Just a generic question: what's the best way to sell an engine? 1. Get a dyno run and leakdown/compression tests run and documented before taking the engine out of the bike? Is this even worth the costs and hassle? 2. Include the carb and some of the electricals, or just strip it down to the intake because including the carb may or may not help the price? 3. Strap it to a pallet, or take it to a dealership for shipping, or tell the buyer to come and get it from the garage floor. 4. Just state the mileage of the bike and let any buyers take a guess on condition? 5. Leave the engine in the bike until it gets sold in case a buyer wants to hear it run? 5a. if left in the bike then there's the hassle of who takes it out of the bike and coordinated timing of same. 6. 7. 8. 9. 10. you fill in the blanks. Nothing definite yet, just starting to think about some things that need doing. Thanks for any input. |

Chances are the buyer isn't going to want to wait around for you to take it out of the bike if they decide to buy it - they'll want is a.s.a.p. I would take a good quality video of the things running, and if you want to be super anal you can show a current newspaper in the video so they know it wasn't made years ago or anything. |

I figure the dyno chart and any tests will have dates on them, otherwise I'll just use a grease pencil and write the date on the engine case. If the engine doesn't sell it might eventually turn into something like this:
