And this is why I never lock my friggin forks.
I was at dinner with my parents, grandma, and aunt. I parked the bike in front of their car and to ease my mom I locked the forks (she thinks it's a bad neighborhood there). Anyhow, after dinner, I get on the bike, and the bars are already turned left, which is the way I needed to go to get past their car. So, I put the key in the ignition, fire her up, pull down my glasses and ease the clutch out. Now, I needed to go left from the start and then back right to go behind their car to the exit. Well, my dumb arse forgot to unlock the f'in forks! So, when I went to come back right, the bike fell over on me...I thought it was hilarious ! That is, after I made sure my baby wasn't too busted up. I was maybe doing 5mph tops...probably 2-3mph realistically.

Damage:
Bike-
Torn grip
Broken rear brake foot lever.
Bent up front brake lever.
Me-
Just a little nick on my hand and a small scrape on the knee (Nothing bloody though!)
That's it! First time laying her down, and FFS it was in front of my parents and grandma who all about crapped themselves. I started laughing when I got up, because of how stupid I was. Oh well, guess I'll never be locking my forks again!

Now, I've got to find me some cheap brake levers because I've got no money (Dam I hate being a poor college student)!

I know. I never lock my forks...

What really sucks is, I put 300 miles on here and went to the nearest Buell Store in Ft Wayne, IN (I'm in South Bend,IN), and bought a Buell beanie, shirt, and pin...Me and another buddy on a 01 X1 rode there and back....

On the ride back, my bike rolled 10,000 miles!!!!!! Then to end a wonderful day with that stupidity is well, humorous. But now I can't say the bike has never been down.
Or, can I? It pretty much "fell over," right? LOL

What's the nicest way to put it?

Well, thanks to Wile_coyote and Zenfrogmaster, my bike (minus the half missing throttle grip) is going to be back to normal soon.

Thanks all!! This, is one reason why I will always have my Buell! The fact that the bike is amazing in itself is one thing. But the community that comes along with owning this bike is like none other!

Thank you.

My first crash, my S3 crashed WITHOUT ME!!!

I leave it parked here at work and have a full cover to use (it's just such a purdy bike, it needs to be covered)

Well, a month after she was new, we have a summer rain squall come roaring through here and a buddy comes in and says something about the bike on its side... I'm thinking riiiiight, we're always kidding around.

Go outside to check - wind is about gusting to 50 and it's raining sideways and it's ripping sand and water everywhere - and the poor bike is over on its side with the cover blown OPEN like a scoop into the wind, rain and sand... COVERED with crap.

Like I said, she crashed without me!

I used to forget to unlock my forks all the time with my sportster, but i always do a check before I get rolling. It's instinct for me since I lock them every time.

My first drop was in my driveway. The ol' sciatica kicked in full steam out of nowhere and I didn't have the strength to hold it up. Luckily I was able to lay it down gently rather than just drop it. Knick on the mirror, brake lever, header and swingarm. All barely noticeable.

there's nothing worse than dropping the ultraclassic. especially in gravel. you will never pick it up by your self.

Been there man, that blows.

I was putting the standard away after I just got home and got off to open the garage door and I stood it up to fast to take it off the kick stand, right foot slipped in sand on the drive way and it was all I could do to slooowly let her down on the right side. If it wasn't for adrenalin I would have never picked it up by myself.
