Cool shots Jim! My Uncle was a Chicago fire chief, and I have a cousin who is doing it now as well. Thanks for risking your life for us civilians! Incredibly cool job, incredibly hard work. |

I would love to be a firefighter. I went and took the test for the city (of Columbus), along with another 3000+ people. I did great... but not great enough. |

You people have cool as hell jobs. Anybody want an apprentice? I sell freaking hardwood floors. Yeah, it's pretty exciting, I get to do forklift burnouts, kill big spiders, surf badweb when the bosses aren't around, and oh yeah... can't forget helping the crazy customers that love to buy their floors elsewhere, then want me to spend an hour with them picking out a fricken $20 stick of trim. |

I forgot to say 'Fireman - nice work!' Guys like you make a difference - I'm a bit jealous of that. Saving folks and stuff must be rewarding. (Message edited by danger_dave on September 08, 2007) |

the quality sux because it was on a camera phone at around 55 mph in the middle of the night. not exactly ice road trucking, but close. i took that last feb on I-90 westbound just east of Erie PA, after the snow finally let up for a while. if you look you can see my left hood mirror and the bug deflector on the hood. i'll try to remember to take a pic of the full rig from the outside when i go back to work next week. |

Sorry Jim, forgot to tell you right on for your line of work, you guys are out there doing real work while guys like Danger_Dave and I are getting paid to have fun. As for the new Jeep, I like it quite a bit. There were a bunch of quality/production problems during the first six months of the 2007 model year, but they are all sorted out now. I drive the maroon one as my daily driver right now... It is a good mix of daily driver, awesome trailability, and family flexibility (car seat, stroller, pack and play, etc.). If you are a current Jeeper, the JK blows the TJ away in EVERY way and will impress you with refinement - if you are coming to the four door Jeep from another brand, you might find it rough around the edges and spartan. We liked the '07 2-door enough to name it 2007 Four Wheeler of the Year (4-door placed second) and we named the 2-door one of the 10 Best Buys in Four Wheel Drive for the compact segment and the 4-door Editor's choice in the same article. Some quotes fromt me can be seen on Jeep's award page on the Jeep website here: http://www.jeep.com/en/2007/wrangler/awards/awards _reviews/ Scroll down to the 10 Best award (OTY is at the Top of the list 10 Best at the bottom). As for towing, I think it is only rated to 3500-pounds. I have towed a motorcycle trailer with it, and it is a dog. Unladen, power from the 3.8L is only adequate at best. At least the 3.8L is way smoother than the 4.0L and the Jk is a beast off road. Best out of the box wheeler you can buy. Here is an article I wrote for JP on my experiences wheeling stock in Africa: http://www.jpmagazine.com/preview/154_0610_2007_je ep_wrangler_rubicon_jk/ Enjoy! --Sean (Message edited by thespive on September 09, 2007) |
