If you want an interesting ride try this: We have a racer with only a left arm. He races Dirt Track with the throttle and clutch on the left. Brake is foot operated(rear only) Think about which way the throttle operates. Off the line and into the first turn, he's usually in the top three, amazing. | ||

one arm racer, too cool! there was a guy in fuell a while back on a tuber at track day's with one arm. and to think i know a guy on full (permanent)disability because his knee hurts(he still rides an 800# harley though, hmmm). | ||

We used to do this all the time for chasing and retrieving free flight model airplanes by motorcycle in the field. I even did this on a 1969 Triumph T100 for Halloween one year. My group dressed as Headless Horse Riders, I carried a lit Jack-o-lantern (real carved pumpkin with flashlight rig inside) across the Oakland Bay Bridge held high in my left hand!!! then later rioted SF with the rest of the bike clubs. Just because you have a bum knee (or even leg) is no reason not to ride. I should know. However I am dependent on the kindness of strangers if I do tip it over. I cannot pick the bike up without help. On the good side however with a little creativity just about anybody can get out and ride a motorcycle. You should see some of the dirty looks I get from older folks some times (I'm assuming) because of my disabled license plates. They'll get along side of me if I'm in traffic, or if I'm taking it easy on the highway and just stare, until I look over and give them a wave. I guess because they can't see anything wrong with me. I also catch hell sometimes from people that don't realize that not only do disabled bike plates exist, I have one on my bike. | ||

There used to be a guy here, rode a S1W with only his right hand. He was at the Braggin the Dragon thing. Man that was a fun time. Old age prevents me from remembering his name. |
