This was taken two nights ago. My wife and I are in the middle of a remodel and have been taking pictures all along the way. Theres only two rooms in the whole house that these orbs show up on film.

Some of the guys at work said the home is haunted. My wife says its dust.
The previous owner died in the master bedroom from cancer.

What do you guys think?

Well I think it is just dust that caught the flash right.

I see a shop vac and tons of dust on the floor.

Cameras are great for doing tricks and playing with light.

Here is a "ghost" pic I took the other day. The light source was my cell phone and the shutter was left open for 2 seconds...

I have been told the orbs were angels or spirits that are with you always. I like to think so. And at the time these were taken there was no dust.

Well, theres one way to prove the ghost/angel theory. Go to the bathroom and take a dump and snap a picture. If they are spirits in your home, there shouldnt be any in the picture in the bathroom. No self respecting ghost is going to stay in the john when they see your about to unload.

Take a dump and snap a picture?

Thats what my brother does almost every day, around 6pm. He send's the image to my phone every time no matter how many times I've told him to stop.

Your right about not seeing any sprits. All I see is a log-jam. Very scary just the same.

construction always releases the "dust ghosts"... Just ask my wife.

I also notice some freshly vacuumed carpets in the other pictures (vacuum cleaners kick up dust as well)

Typically... when something happens I can't explain, I'll freak out and suspect it's a supernatural phenomenon.

To keep myself safe, I'll dance around a burning candle with aluminum foil covering my genitals to ward off the bad mojo.

But that's just me.

Orb pictures are most likely water, dust, or grease on the lens of your camera.

A "real" haunted house will make its presence known.

Keep a log and note the time in which odd events occur.

Anyway, I would be more concerned with asbestos laden building materials than I would be with ghosts.

Sleep tight

cheesebeast is right be careful of building materials. from the pic it looks like there where 9" v.a.t. tiles on the floor. which has asbestos in them. which is harmless when on the floor but becomes airborn as soon as it is scraped up. also if that is a black tar like glue left on the floor it is called cutback, and also contains asbestos.

Orbs?
Orbs have many names including globes, globules, balls of light, and hovering round balls. They appear in all ranges of brightness from bright-&-glowing to faded-&-barely-visible. They are usually quite fast and follow an erratic pattern of flight. Positive orbs are believed to be the spirits of the dead by many. However, other theories suggest that they might be separate life forms or even nature spirits. The problem is that many orb photos are false positives. Read on...

What percentage of orb photos are false?
As you might know there is a controversy concerning orbs in regards to authenticity. Although a lot of them are believed to be authentic, there are still many showing up as a result of airborne particles (dust) at the time of the flash. This happens in both indoor & outdoor shots. Because of this, it's making it really hard to disassociate the false positive orbs from the real ones. An example of airborne particles would be like opening a heavy curtain inside of a dark room to let in the light. Have you ever done that and seen all the dust in the beam of the light? Well dust can show up in pictures as orbs, especially when dust is close to the lens, and most especially with digital cameras. That's just one example, moisture (humidity), mold, & pollen are also contributors of false positive orb photos. Because of this, there is no real way to confirm authenticity with our present knowledge, therefore the consensus would have to be that most orb photos are false positives. Perhaps as many as 50-90 percent of orb photos are nothing more than the conditions at the time of the flash.

What should I look for in an orb photo?
As mentioned above there is no official way to determine authenticity of an orb within a photo but here are a few key elements to keep in mine. 1. A bright orb is more likely to be real than a faded one. 2. Multiple orbs in a single photo are most likely dust motes. 3. Orbs that are bright and show a vibrating effect within the photo are likely to be real. 4. A slight trail is also something to look for in determining true orbs.

Can the dust theory be proved?
YES! Just take your digital camera (for fast results) outside and throw some dust out in from of the lens and presto, multiple orbs will appear in the picture! Note; the dust has to be within 4 inches of the lens to appear as orbs in the photo. You can also take a spray bottle to simulate humidity and spray directly out in from of the lens. Result will once again be multiple orbs. Our conclusions are that dust particles reflect light from the flash and appear as perfectly round balls of light in the photo. Try it! See dust orbs in pictures

Our conclusions
We here at Ghoststudy have learned that for best results orb photography should be done by using a 35 mm camera and not a digital. Although digital cameras are a useful tool in ghost photography, they can't be entirely trusted when it comes to orbs. 35 mm cameras are LESS likely to create dust mote orbs on film which makes them the camera of choice.

We hope that this will help you to be a more informed in regards to orbs and the controversy concerning them.

Be aware of "how fake ghost photos are made!"

I had steam cleaned my carpets the day before the pictures. There was no dust and the orbs did not appear in every picture.( I took about 20). And oddly enough there were no orbs in the bathrooms.

I have been working for YEARS at underwater photography and we try to reduce the phenomenon known in photography as "BACKSCATTER" by shooting with the strobes on LONG arms. With the strobe ON the camera, the tiniest bit of stuff in the water reflects BACK at the lens. Same on dry land it's just that dust settles. Also why when I shoot on land, I'll still use remote strobes whenever possible.

In the water, you just don't have the back-reflections going on with the camera's optics.

Interesting topic.

I took some photos in a bombed out underground Iraqi Air Defense Command Center that had some orbs. The pictures I took at the entrance (bright natural light) didn't show any orbs but the pictures I took deep down in the guts of the building (with only the camera flash for light) had orbs. Then I cleaned the camera lens. Like someone above has already hinted - apparently the orb spirits are afraid of clean lenses
