Sorry, but it sounds like you are going to jail. He is never going to "Take care" of that ticket, you are going to get a bench warrent issued for failure to appear, and the next time you get pulled over you will be arrested and your bike is going to be towed away until you can make bail and get your bike out of impound. And you will have an arrest that you will be trying to straighten out for years to come and find yourself a sheep trapped by the system. What Ryker77 said is true, you are being led down a red carpet to a slaughter. The system is notorious for "F'en" things up and the sergent is just part of that system no matter how nice he seemed. Sorry, I know, I am part of the bureuacracy. The safe thing to do would be to go to the court prepared on the appearance date and make sure they don't have you on the list. |

Hex, NOT EVERY Officer is corrupt or out to get you, as some here may imply... The card documents that the Sgt had contact with you, in the event you are somehow issued a summons to appear in court at a later date for THIS violation. I wouldn't necessarily call it a "get out of jail" card, but I would EXPECT the citation is/ has been taken care of. In the event you are still unsure if the citation has been taken care of you can contact the clerk of the court to check on this. Don't forget to jot down the date/ time and name of the person you spoke to about this. Hope this helps... The "Man" is not all gloom and doom all the time... |

I wouldn't necessarily call it a "get out of jail" card, but I would EXPECT the citation is/ has been taken care of. my .02 is that the card is near worthless on the previous charges it might help with future problems on the colored screen. do the below suggest to ensure the case was dropped. And the charges were not dropped - you miss the court date. Bench Warrent. Weeks, months or years later you get pulled over for speeding and off to jail you go. Car/bike is impounded. In the event you are still unsure if the citation has been taken care of you can contact the clerk of the court to check on this. Don't forget to jot down the date/ time and name of the person you spoke to about this. if you live in the area - go to the court clerk and get a copy,. If not see if something can be mailed or faxed to you. I had a "buddy" get a ticket dropped for me. But I show up in court for yet another bull shit traffic charge and as luck had it both tickets came up. Had it not been for the second ticket a bench warrent would have been placed for me. Funny thing was the speeding ticket was later dropped - I was clearly guilty of it. But the second bogus ticket had to be taken all the way to jury trail. Get proof! NOT EVERY Officer is corrupt or out to get you, as some here may imply... true. But some are stupid and are unable to read or understand the laws in which they write bogus tickets for. Some are then bullheaded in that they are the "law" and most of the time get away with writing tickets at will and with blatant disregard for the actuall law that the government wrote down. Keep track of the number of hours and your expenses doing everything Ryker77 details above. Then, WHEN you get the "Not Guilty" verdict, turn around and sue the bastards for your time and trouble over this frivolous case. Not that easy. First you must be able to show malcious intent for the charge or the continual prosecution of the charges. I had a 9-11 recording to show malcious intent, the officer lied on the stand, etc etc. But as a white male in American I was unable to find a lawyer. First off less than 1% of lawyers take on cases like this. They only want the $$$$ physical abuse cases. I had the cash to drop down for a lawyer to sue -- all I wanted was my money back and compensate for time wasted. Nothing extra. Perhaps getting the DA, ADA, Police Chief and the arresting officer to hand write the charges I was given and a hand writen copy of the Declaration of Indenpandace... I couldn't find a single lawyer in GA to take the case. I did find one national lawyer but I had calmed down and gave in/up |
