The first was that I went to a track day at Jennings GP in Florida this last weekend. Bike ran good, was getting plenty of puck grinding action throughout the morning sessions on Saturday. About halfway through the second session after lunch the front end washed out on me in turn 8 at a speed that I would rather not disclose in case the wife finds this post. The bike and I go down like Jerry Cooney for a million dollar paycheck. That's the bad news. I slide out to the edge of the pavement with a few rolls thrown in, the bike is in the center of the race track, but outside the racing line. I'm OK, up and walking to the corner worker stand to get out an impact zone. We get the bike on the crash truck and transport it back to the pit box.
The bad news: Scuffed up the tail section on the left side, sheared off the left foot peg, the gearshift lever is broken and the left handle bar is bent downward. I go into the office to check the internet for the closest Buell dealer. I called Gainsville HD / Buell and talked with Paul. He has the parts except for the footpeg, but he offers to pull one from one of the bikes on the floor, as he has the pegs on order already. I hop in the truck and head south about an hour. The parts are on the counter. I'm pretty happy at this point. I'll get to finish out the weekend !! About the time that I'm ready to go, the clouds let loose with monsoon rain. I suddenly decide that I'm not in a big hurry so I pick out a buell mechanic shirt and start BS'ing with Paul about the current state of affairs in the Buell world and the excitement about the 1125R.
Paul and the other gentleman in the parts dept. let me hang out and talk until closing time, hoping the rain would let up.

So A big thumbs up for the guys down in Gainesville for having what I needed in stock ( Even if they had to cannibalize a new bike to do it ) and were willing to take that extra step to make it happen.

Thanks guys for helping me get my weekend back on track, literally !

Glad to hear that everything worked out well in spite of your spill. Good to hear about another Buell Friendly dealer. We need more of them.

When going to the track, or on any long trip, I always take a "tip over kit" consisting of the following:

1. Brake and clutch levers,
2. spare handle bar
3. brake and shift pedals.
4. shift pedal linkage
5. spare foot pegs - the stock pegs break very easily.

I keep them in a little bag, ready to travel.

That's great!
That sucks!
That's great!
Since your handlebar hit the ground, if you need a new set of grips (or just a spare set) I have a set of of the traction grips that I can't use.

You should let me know next time you head to a track day.
