It is good to harken back to the days of yesteryear. Indeed! (Part 2) These are the only static pictures I have of the S1W Battle of Champions bikes. Jamie James, Billy Graef and Erik Buell:
Billy Graef next to Chris Carr:
Billy Graef next to Jamie James and unidentifiable (don't ya just love the old timey film pictures?):
And what the view from the riders seat looked like:

It is good to harken back to the days of yesteryear. Indeed! (Part 5 and finale - finally) Here's what made that day an over the top day in Buell history:
The recently restored RW750 was presented to Erik:
As a note, even though in all my pictures it appears that both Billy Graef's bike and Tom Wilson's bike look red, IIRC Billy Graef's bike was orange when I was the 'official mechanic' for him at the Battle of Champions. Don't ya just love them old timey print film pictures? 1313 |

Brankin: I just found my shirt and hat today from the race. I also have 4 or 5 rolls of good old "film film". That was my old 1997 F-250 that the sweep bike was in. I've still got a barrel of those Snap-On gap gauges . . . the guy from HD told me "just get rid of them". I did. Wish you were here tonight Brankin . . . I've, at long last, broken out the 9 shipping crates of photos, documents, note, bikes that worked, bikes the never saw the light of day and all those years I was shooting slides . . . well, I'd forgotten about the case of slides. Heck there were two boxes from the very first BattleTrax ever. . . . great memories. Back to writing . . talk to you tomorrow! Court

Great pics! Does anyone remember a display Buell/HD set up at Daytona Bike Week, maybe in the late 90s? It had several bikes similar to those pictured with mannequins astride them, dressed in full leathers. I thought it was so cool and exotic. The Buells looked so nasty, I thought I could never ride one of those. |
