I was thinking we could use this thread for alternative/interchangeable non-"OEM" replacement parts...and possible issues involved.

At one time I remember coming across a thread that mentioned that there was an easy replacement for an oxygen sensor. I can't remember if it was from a Ford, or what. I know the Big Ford oil filter will work and I'm thinking about doing that switch to increase oil flow and capacity.

Does anyone know which O2 Sensor is an appropriate replacement? Anything to watch out for?

O2 sensor info from the X-1 Files site:

"Bosch 12014 has the correct Weatherpack connector. It is just unplug, unscrew, screw in and plug in. The O2 sensor from a 1993 Chevy pickup will work... it also plugs right in, the wire is about 2 inches longer but doesn't seem to be a problem on an S-3."

Okay , while we're at it, are there alternatives for a 2001 x1 stator?

Shortly after I replaced the one on my 2000 S3, someone posted here that Accel makes a replacement stator and voltage regulator for a Sportster that will work on Buell tubers. You can download their catalog here:

http://go.mrgasket.com/pdf/73877G_MC04cat.pdf

While they don't list any Buell applications, I'm pretty sure the tubers use the same part numbers as the equivalent year Sportsters. Can anyone else confirm this?

Yes, I've got an Accel stator in my 2001 Cyclone, same part as for a Sportster. I can't confirm regarding 2003 and up.

I wonder if they would have any for the XBs? I don't think has improved them at all.

There are a great many replacements for the OEM parts, and many of them are a real upgrade. Here are a few that spring to mind.

James Gaskets makes replacement gaskets for all Harley motors.

They are rather higher in quality that the OEM units.

Here is their web site:

http://www.jamesgaskets.com/catalog.htm

Their telephone customer service is very helpful.

Spark plugs - Denso Iridium IXU 24. Also an improvement over stock.

Air filters: K+N

Rear shock for XB: Ohlins 46HRCLS

CRG levers: Brake: AN 531 Clutch: AN 621

LSL foot pegs.

Crossroad brake and shift levers.

Where is the oil filter cross reference chart? I've looked, but can't find it.

Hugh,
Thanks, just for reference, the X1 uses HD part number 29967-89A which matches up to the Sportster 91 - 93 with 22 Amp stator. Accel part number is 152108

Here's a good one: front isolator for tubers- J & P Cycle part number 4300140. The price is $19.99 (~half the price of the factory part) and it fits perfectly.
