I have been contacted by the high bidder, asking for an invoice with the total charge. No shipping. And wants it shipped to an address in California. The name on the address matches the email address, (but that's not hard to do). | ||

Send him a note - report him to ebay if he doesn't respond - there's NO WAY it's legit. Sorry it had to happen to you and waste your time to sort it out and re-list it. looked at the bid history, the top 3 bidders are all new accts, less than a week, and zero feedback..... the high legit bidder was 400 and some change..... send that person a second chance auction stating the situation | ||

That is obviously sham bidding by newly registered bidders. Look for the last honest bid and see it they are willing to pay the last amount reflecting honest bidders. Another option (if you think there is some long shot chance that the high bidder is actually willing to cough up the money) is to tell them that you want to use an escrow service because of the high value. That will require them to send the money to a third party, the third party verifies the funds and holds them, you ship, and get paid when the high bidder has received and verified the goods. He has contacted me a couple times. I cleared out the crap bids once during the auction, but they just shot it back up. Do I have some protection through PayPal for this stuff? I contacted the eBay fraud department, but they cannot do anything, because technically, the bidder has not done anything wrong...........yet. The good bidder at that $400 area contacted me when the bidding went stupid, and mentioned contacting him when the deal fell through. | ||

Got to be real careful here. Smells bad. Zero Bidder. Way over pays. If you are lucky, the guy will propose something other than the PayPal you requested, so you can simply decline, as your listing clearly states PayPal only. Most likely he will use the old, "I'll send you $4500 by certified check, if you could send part of it, say $3000, to someone else. None one falls for that one anymore, do they? The check looks good, banks takes it, you get arrested when it proves to be fake. The problem is, if he does use PayPal, you are still not out of the woods. If the guy Pay Pal's you, transfer the money to your bank account immediately, so neither the buyer or PayPal can get their hands on it. It is really easy for the buyer to get Pay Pal to back charge you for almost no reason, no matter how obviously fraudulent. Even easier if the guy is paying his PayPal with a credit card. Then you end up with a negative balance on PayPal, and you can not use your account until you pay back the money. PayPal will turn the account over to a collection agent with bad breath and no manners. Please let us know how it unfolds. I have had a lot of eBay experience, feel free to PM me if you get jammed. Entrapment or some sort of indirect identity theft of some sort, could be messy regardless. What city is the address in? Offer to ship the parts to a friend near the buyer's address and request that payment be made in cash at a financial institution due to some concerns about the final price being higher than what you had anticipated and that no disrespect intended you have some concerns now with the transaction. If you kill the deal then the "buyer" can slam your rating, offer him a way out all friendly like. | ||

Could it be for an insurance claim???? He damaged his and he is trying to show a very high replacement cost. OR he is selling a bike with them on it and is trying to inflate what they are worth. Why else would he want an invoice? Does sound fishy I am not sure what to think. | ||

Just let him know that the parts where damaged in a barn fire and that they are no longer in a condition that you would sell them in. Say you are sorry and if he gives you bad feedback then state your reason take it up with ebay. If asked to show damaged goods go melt something that is black and take a pic. If asked to show burned up barn say it was in an old barn at your father in laws house 1200 miles away. There was no insurance on said barn because it was so old and about to be torn down and has since been torn down. | ||

I've got over 140 transactions on eBay and have NEVER had a problem with fraud or even a bad or shady transaction... To write off eBay as a Scamfest is a little ridiculous... I would say that this auction in particular was hijacked probably by a kid that got outbid early on, and didn't want anyone else to have them... probably going to bid again on the relist. Sucks guy. | ||

PayPal Is also a big headache. If you use paypal ENSURE you keep a ZERO balance in it. Example- you sell an item. Buyer files a complaint. PayPal freezes that money or if you recieve any future payments into that account the amount is frozen. PayPal does not follow there own rules about time limits in the dispute. My wife has has 300.00 in paypal neverland for over three months! And she has called and emailed every week. | ||

That was a first time bidder that did that. How much are they new? Can’t be more than five hundred, right? Carbon fiber is expensive, but…. I don’t think they guy who is selling those will collect from that bidder somehow. | ||

The high bidder is a nutcase. He gave negative feedback "to much expensive". No kidding. Who's fault is that? It's a shame that you have to deal with people like that, and have your Ebay feedback rating suffer. | ||

I think that you can file a complaint with ebay for that type of punishment negative feedback. Plus I think, not sure. But if the bidders account who gave you negative feedback is closed - the feedback is cleared. | ||

Well, that sux. I'll have to fight the feedback thing I guess. But the bidder sent me a message earlier asking for an address to send me a check, which I promptly replied that I am not accepting checks. It must have been shortly after that when I received the feedback. | ||

"to much expensive" - what kind of feedback is that? He's the one who bid, no one forced him. Ebay should delete that feedback, as it had nothing to do with you. It was totally on the "buyer". Scammers suck. | ||

A suggested feedback reply for your rating: "Bidder bid the price too high, look at the bid history." A suggested feedback for his rating: big negative: "Use caution, overbids beyond realistic values then plays games." Looks like your last real value bidder is going to "win" this one. | ||

Well, I've tried to file a non-paying bidder thing with eBay, but the auction has to be closed for a week. I'll have to see what I can do about getting the feedback removed......never tried that. | ||

Well, after a couple messages back and forth witht the bidder, he as made an offer to buy the item for a more reasonable price............but I refuse to sell them to him. I'll be able to file the non-paying bidder tomorrow, and then I'll offer it to the highest bidder that had contacted me. | ||
