The local dealer on Long Island (Crazy Freddie's in Massapequa) was supposed to have had a "Demo Day" this past (Memorial Day) weekend. It was a CROCK. They had ONE Spyder on display, but it was a static display ONLY... NO demo rides, despite it being advertised on the Can Am site as a "chance to demo ride the new Spyder." There were an AWFUL lot of really pissed off people. Don't know if this is going to be the same thing at each of these "Demo Days" or not, but I thought I should warn you... |

I would be very interested in getting a test ride. This is one of the models I have been looking at as a compromise between a motorcycle and a scooter for my wife. |

hey jim, yeah i told rob that they had the wrong number listed. are you really going all the way up? there are some dealer demos closer to you...i think sac and lodi??? they are about the same distance for me, and i am going to try to get dr. steve to meet me there as well. would love to take the buell, but i haven't fixed the front motor mount yet!!! i am actually maybe going to try and hit the lodi and sac dealers later in the year as well. i really wish i could make the Jun 3 Demo Tour (Closed Circuit) at the Los Angeles Concours d’Elegance Pasadena, CA (Message edited by sleez on May 31, 2007) |

How are those things titled car, bike, other? I've allways wondered when ATV would enter the mainstream street market. 500lbs 3-4 wheels and 100+HP.. zoom zoom and easy on the gas. |

It's too bad that all of the dealers are 500+ miles from central Missouri. I might have been interested in something like this. |

I could build something myself for that matter I was interested in checking one out though. Too bad (for them) that they made the choice for me. |

hey jim, the bolt in the front motor mount broke in the head, luckily i caught it before the bracket itself broke. i bought a new bracket and bolt kit, but i still need to get the right drill bit and bolt extractor as per Al, to do the job right. i just haven't had the time yet, and have missed some great riding days!! i am also wanting to modify the bracket with a cross beam to tie the two arms together similar to the billet ones. i have not heard of any instance where the bracket or bolts have broken on any bike with the billet brackets. maybe there are not enough out there to have a good cross section of the population yet....???? i would just buy a billet one....but they are like 300.00, i can do it cheaper i think. i also talked with the bolt mfgr and there is some concern about the plating on the bolts, the mfgr doesn't plate them, so Buell or the distributor has them plated, and depending on the temps during the plating process, that in itself might be degrading the bolts. i am sending the one bolt that didn't break to the mfgr for eval. sorry for the long winded answer! |

Yes I did, and I will say that RideNow did a fabulous job with the demo. Some computer network glitches on the part of Can-Am made grabbing the pic from them a real test, but I got it done. The power was as fabulous as you could expect from the Rotax motor. The brakes take a little thinking to get over, there is no hand brake, so stopping with the "rear" brake pedal is a little disconcerting. I ripped it up to speed then power stopped. The ABS was excellent if the feedback thru the pedal was not what I would prefer. The handling was the biggest thing to need to get used to in my opinion. If you weren't used to riding sport/hyper bikes I could see the handling not being so disappointing. It lends itself to the upright neutral riding position that the average Goldwinger/Touring rider would be used to. |
