Anyone tried the 9 gearing on the Uly?
It has to be a wheelie monster, not that I have ever done that!!!!! :‹)
Pros/cons.I am sure it would cut down the mileage for long distance riding, but slow riding or S/and go might help.
Always geared my Kaws with a 1 under but don't think 1 under is anywhere near the diff. on the 12 to 9 gearing.
Thanks

Yes, people do that, they claim it helps with the low speed sugring you get if you try and ride a uly a 20 mph. It's on my list of things to do to mine.

I'm not sure how much it hurts the highway mileage. It essentially turns 5th gear into 4th, so I have been riding around on the highway in 4th gear. Mileage has not noticeably suffered, but I've only gone through a couple of tanks. On the other hand, it's much more responsive in 4th gear.

I did it and swapped right back. It is like having no 5th gear. The difference in the low end was awesome, but losing fifth was too much.

I've done it and really like the change. The bike has instant power in every gear and spins at about 4000 rpm at 75mph. Perfect for me. You get some more vibration in the bars and pegs. Mileage has gone up for me. If you are uncomfortable running at 4000 rpm, most harleys like 2500 better, you won't like the change. I also owned BMW's and learned the advantage of rpm. They really like 5k and 6k for extended running. If you spend any time at all in gravel the change is really appropriate.
