Corvette: A PIECE OF THE ACTION, published in 1978 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of America's favorite sports car, 224 pages, rich full-color photography, large format (9-5/8" x 12-1/4"), bound in red genuine Corvette seat leather, certified first edition (#478, and the certificate is still a virgin), written with Bill Mitchell (one of the LEGENDARY Corvette designers) and Allan Girdler (one of my favorite motojournalists, frequent contributor to Cycle World magazine). this book is MINT. and i'm the original owner. this book is 29 years and three months old, from back in the days when i had a PAIR of Corvettes in my stable ('69 350/350 4-speed Roadster with factory side exhaust and both tops, and '72 LT-1 - what a motor! - 4-speed Roadster with both tops. alas, that was SO last century...) this is real history here, folks, and i reckon it's pretty rare, especially since i've got all the original paperwork. (even the paperwork is mint!) you want entertainment? it's here. you want facts, they're here. you want history, it's here. you want color photographs - LOTS and LOTS of color photographs including gorgeous two-page spreads - they're here. you wanna cop a VERY serious 'Vette buzz? this book will keep you high for a long, long time. they made a zillion of these that were bound "normally," and if you look around you can find 'em pretty cheap. they only made a handful of these bound in genuine Corvette seat leather, however, and this survivor is one of 'em. i REALLY don't want to get rid of this book. but Matt Ware REALLY didn't want to die of brain cancer, either. you want this baby? good on ya, but there's a reserve on this auction, so you better bid serious, and you better bid deep. let me know. FB This auction ends next Friday May 18th, 2007 at 10 p.m (BadWeB) Eastern time, but will continue beyond that time if there is bid activity within one hour of auction end. Once there is one hour of inactivity at any time after 10 p.m. May 18th, the auction will be considered over. I will pay for shipping*, so consider this when bidding. There are no other fees; what you bid is what you pay. Good luck, bid often, and remember: This is for Matt Ware and his family. *(Unless you are overseas. I am happy to ship to you, however, due to the cost of shipping overseas you will be required to pay for such shipping.) |

...#478, and the certificate is still a virgin... btw, the Certificate of First Edition isn't 100% virginal. some guy by the name of William L. Mitchell wrote on it... |

Ferris, if there are no takers and close of auction is upon us, I'll bid $50. If I win, I would like for you to keep the book for yourself. I'm sure Matt would know in his heart its true home is with you. Rocket |

Ferris , i'm bidding $51 , only because that shouldn't go for that little when the auction ends . "if" i win it , i want you to either keep it or sell it properly to get it's proper worth to benefit the cause . you should be able to get hundreds for that . $51 |

Well I'm guessing that FB keeps the book and Woody1911a1 is going to make a donation? Someone please clue me into what I should be looking for! Thanks, Kristi |

Rocket and Woody, VERY cool of you both, thank you! yes, this book is definitely worth "hundreds" and i posted up an auction knowing this wasn't perhaps the best place to sell it, but hey, you never know who's reading BadWeB. i had a reserve price of $500 for the book. somewhere out there is a Corvette fanatic who NEEDS this book. in the meantime, Rocket and Woody: if you guys want to donate some additional $$ to Matt's trust fund in "honor" of this book, well, that'd be awesome! if you do, ping Kristi and tell her it's for the Corvette book, and she'll know what to do. thanks again. the overall goodness of people is really pretty amazing sometimes. Matt, hope you're enjoying the ride! FB |

Well I'm shocked that no one has at the least put a decent bid in for this unique book. No prob. If someone doesn't 'buy' it for Ferris, I'll donate too. Thanks Woody - no probs there either. Rocket |

Woody - either way is fine. By mail there is no fee, so 100% goes to the trust fund. You do what is easier for you. I can make it work on this end with whatever I receive! |
