Hi There, A co-worker of mine is looking at Blasts to buy. Yesterday we went and test rode one. Everything seemed fine, but after the rides, while it was sitting idling, it looked to be puffing smoke out of the crankcase breather line. Is this normal? Thanks . . . Chris |

I owned a blast for 2.5 seasons and spent a lot of time on BWB in the Thumper forum for blast discussions and I've never heard of that. You might want to post this in the Thumper area so the right guys see it and can hopefully answer your question. Nick |

So the plug was missing on the vent tube down at the swingarm? |

Yes, the plug was missing. There were two tubes down at the swingarm. I assume one was there to allow oil drainage, the other for the crankcase breather. We ran the bike for probably 15-20 minutes and a small cloud of smoke started forming. It was clearly coming out of the breather tube. It was light and white. I guess it could have been vapor, but it seemed too thick for that. I couldn't figure out how to post in the Thumper forum. Couldn't find a "Start New Thread" button anywhere. thanks |

Then, I'd say replace the plug and its probably fine. Those vapors are supposed to go into the carb for EPA reasons. Or, you could rig up a breather filter too... Nick |

Don't worry about it. Or use it as leverage when making an offer.... |

I second Swampy's leverage idea. |

I don't want him to get stuck with a problem. It's his first bike. If it's normal, that's cool, but if not, there are plenty of other Blasts around. Thanks for the replys guys. |

Normal is an interesting term. A lot of these bikes Normally consume craploads of oil. They'll still run just fine. It just sucks testicles that they can consume so much oil with stock piston and jug. I agree with the comments above. Don't worry about it - but complain to the seller. -Saro |
