I just did my taxes. As if they didn't already take enough, both Federal AND State want MORE.

Here's to you, Mr. Taxman.

I firmly believe we would have had a revolution in this country a long time ago if we had to write a check to the IRS every month, just like every other bill.

I know, right? The only thing that saved me from having to pay in more than they have already taken out of my pay was the education rebate I received. Luckily I didn't have to pay them any more and it gave me a few dollars back. MBIV money!

Fairtax.org, I read the book and have looked at it for a while now. This is the only option I see as saving us from the taxman.

Al, the list of things that can be cut from the budgets or tax incentives that could be done away with doesn't start or end with the oil companies, and it certainly doesn't reside purely on one side of the party line or the other.

Who could forget $900 hammers, $500k self-composting outhouses in public parks, or my favorite, the retirement plan that the members of Congress enjoy.

I am a supporter of the Fair Tax movement.

I did my Federal and State, and I found the worst one to do was the City of Lansing, Michigan. 5 pages to fill out verifying income sources, deductions, exemptions schedule(my dependents), percentages worked inside the city, then another one with percentages worked outside the city, then a letter from my employer verifying the above numbers, then to top it off a copy of the front page of the federal 1040!

I don't even live there and everytime I go to the hell hole I have to pay to park!

I feel your pain. It was stupid back in 1978 (my last year filing Lansing tax) and the last time I tried to go downtown on a Sunday I STILL had to pay to park. Why doesn't Magic J. just buy the place and kick out the city council? Now that my bro and dad are retired from the PD, they moved to Okemos and Laingsburg/Perry. My brother still lives on South Logan, however.

Don'y worry, it will get better.
The government gave their solemn oath that once WWII is over, income tax will be discontinued....

Hey..Wait a minute!!!

Y'know, we all hate to pay taxes, but I honestly believe that if we didn't have to pay any extra, our paychecks would just be smaller.

Not sure WTF this has to do with taxes...

Quit yer bitchin, somebodys gotta pay so Mobil/Exxon...

Quit buying gas, and their profits will drop.

Back on topic: Gas suppliers make an average of 6¢ per gallon of gas, and the State and Feds get a combined 44¢ in tax per gallon of gas here in Colorado. Kinda funny the government makes more money off a product than the guys that actually provide it.

Yeah but the government has to shoulder the cost of Hundred Billion dollar wars to protect the source of the oil, so it only makes sense that they would get more per gallon...

The Oil companies make 6 cents per gallon profit after the costs of oil exploration etc.

The government gets 44 cents per gallon revenue before the costs of tax breaks to oil companies and middle eastern wars and in the case of the state governments which also get a piece of that 44 cents - road and bridge maintenance, etc. At the end of the day, I doubt the government is even close to breaking even at 44 cents per gallon.

Which is why the Founding Father talked alot about the true effect of a two party government system.

I voted for Nader last time. There is No way he could have done a worse job than ole Shrub.

Sales tax
Car tags
Drivers license
Building permits
Business permits
Death tax
phone taxes
911 taxes
cable TV taxes
even your ammo for hunting season has a hidden tax
Social Security tax
Medicare tax

You won't have to pay Fed and State taxes if you don't make any money.

So if someone is bitch'n, stop making money.

I am self employed and taxes are just part of business.

I hope I do not have a year I don't have to pay taxes because that means I didn't make a profit. And in business if you don't make a profit it is call a hobby.

hmmm.. Unless you live on a farm and never buy anything then you will pay some type of TAX.

See the list above for all the methods the government has to get money from YOU.
