Had the race kit installed in by XB12 and it's just like all of you said . . . AWESOME! My dealer installed it, and said that it would not affect the warranty one bit (my bike's an '06). I have the transparent orange airbox cover, and am wondering if there is any aftermarket accessory that will replace the black plastic air cleaner cover-- the part that holds the now-useless exhaust servo.

Thanks again to all who responded to my questions about the kit. And thanks to all that make this board possible.

I hope you got that warranty promise in writing.
The warranty didn't cover my race ECM when it went bad.

I have the same bike (VO) and I'll be installing my race kit here soon. Glad to hear you like it. I ran into the same problem with the exhaust servo. I'm just going to disconnect it from the exhaust and secure it to the frame in case I want to revert. Better than having a hole with no apparent purpose.

One can easily remove the entire muffler servo system, and use the American Sport Bike Open Air Box kit, available from one of our sponsors of the same name. Looks nice under the transparent air box cover and is supposed to help engine breathing.

The F.A.S.T. kit available through DaveS looks even better under the translucid covers IMO

What is the F.A.S.T. kit? Where can I get a view of it?

It is a kit that includes a silver insulating mat that goes where the airbox base is,
an aluminum velocity stack, and a pod style air filter that fits the velocity stack.

I could not find a suitable pic on a quick search. I'll post one later if no one else does.

DaveS here on the board had at least one in stock, maybe more recently.

/edit never mind Glitch beat me to the pic.

Dunno...Seems like it's missing something.

I'm sure it's not, just looks that way.

You could, if you wanted, route a K&N style vent from the crank case up through the blanket behind the main air filter.

Of course you want the vents to go through a catch can of some sort first unless you like cleaning the inside of the air box cover.

Here's another kit listed on ebay that has a lexan cover.

there is no "nipple" on those lexan covers.
