Ah, the carbon fiber *frame protectors* on other *XB* colors. Took me a second to figure out what you meant. Mikej, main page, "Sponsor news, info, cool stuff" (or something) (ie here) |

No worries. Confused the hell out of me since I thought you meant different colors of Carbon Fiber. Looked all over those bike pics trying to spot it. |

I like em Dave. Looks much better on the black & blue bikes. Even on the yellow they are good looking, but look outta place on the white. Definately cleans up a huge chunk of the bike that some people appear to have an issue with, they dont like the silver frame. Well now you have an option. PS, a little black paint on the neck area & the look would be complete. |

I dunno... I kinda like the massive silver frame showing on my 'bolt. Makes a nice "line" from the steering head to the rear axle via the swingarm. Form and function and all that. Of course, that may change if and when it gets scraped up... BTW, how much ARE those covers? |

They are going to run about 359.00 less your 10% would be 323.10 plus shipping to you. It includes the shipping from England. I'm going to try to put together an order of about 6-10 sets so I can get a better break on them and save some shipping. If I can do this I can do better on the price to Badwebers! OK, who wants a set? Ride to the edge! Based on the pictures, I prefer the frame uncovered on my white XB9R. I would like to see an XB9R in full carbon fiber (air intake, air box, frame cover, tail, undertail, oil cooler scoop, fender, chin spoiler, fairing, etc.). |

XB9er, I was thinking the the same thing after going over to the Trojanhorse web site and seeing all the C/F stuff they have. If I had enough spare change to blow I'd do it, not that any of it is needed (well, accept the frame pieces if ya go down) but just for the effect of it. It should look really cool and I'm sure someone is bound to do it. Timbo |

We are in the process of getting all the carbon bits to put on a bolt. Wait for a little bit. When we get them all we will post the pictures. Craig HD/BCC Waterloo, Iowa |

So, what would you pay for said carbon fiber/carbon kevlar parts - maybe $1,500, all stock external plastic lists for like $1,000? I can have them made in carbon/kevlar color combination: blue/black, black/red, black/natural, etc. I can have them made cheaper than anyone else in the world while keeping quality exceptionally high - the product is as good as any in the world. All I lack is the courage to pull the trigger, should I do it? Anyone think I could sell 20 sets? It is all fun and games until you have to spend your own money. |

Roc said...all stock external plastic lists for like $1,000? ================================================== I think that may be just a tad bit high. Once Buell had the molds made up, surlyn is an incredibly cheap & easy product to work with & produce. I have been in the blown & injected plastic business for over 15 yrs, & surlyn is much easier for me to work with than LLDPE or HDPE, or even a straight polypropylene. I also know that I bought an entire set of new bodywork for my X1, for just a little over $300. This was straight from the dealer & included the tank cover, front fender, windscreen, & chin spoiler. The only thing upping the price a little bit on a bolt would be the size of the front fairing. But I bet it is still pretty damn cheap. Dave, can you actually look up & quote a price on that part? I would just like to know for the hell of it. On the new XB9S thats a non-issue as it has the same basic looking parts as an X1. |

FastEddieB, Where did you get those saddlebags, and how do they work? They look great (hope they have 'em in white for my XB) |

Daves, Is the bodywork for the XB made in Victor, Iowa? When Curt and I were racing with his X1 we met a guy who worked at the plastic plant there. He said the X1 Buell parts were tough to make and they were thinking about raising their prices. Just wondered if they had the contract for the XB parts since its the same plastic. We used to drive by Victor on the way to Eddieville but we never did stop. Greg |

They're Oxford bags, made in England. They seem to fit and work well, with lots of nice features. I bought mine at Deal's Gap - they sell them at the store there. Don't recall white, though I'd imagine they'd be a bitch to keep clean (might I suggest black?) Online - www.sporttouringusa.com/saddlebags.php or 1-800-889-5550 A Google search also turned up: www.castlesales.com/html/productDetail.psp?prodid=131&start_indx=3 though I paid a little less at Deals' Gap ($159.95 is their online price) |

Dynarider - you are correct sir. I read the picking ticket I had made up, again, and the total was $942.95. However, included in this is the price of a fuel injector, $56.50, and a belt guard spacer, $8.90. So I guess it adds up to around $877.55. |

Damn does that sound high. Hopefully the price will come down once they get a few more bikes out in the market place, but you never know. I wonder why the plastic is about 2.5 times higher for the bolt than for an X1? Even counting in the bigger fairing & the plastic tail pieces I wouldnt expect it to jump up that much. BTW, be real careful of your tank cover. A season of good riding will really put a lot of wear & scratches in it where your jacket rubs against it. 1 of the guys I know has a blue bolt & his cover has taken a beating from that. Needs a buckle guard of some type, & not that big brushed aluminum thing Buell sells. |

"I wonder why the plastic is about 2.5 times higher for the bolt than for an X1?" Big and complex fairing and tail section? The X1 has an aluminum tail piece. |

Recently while I was in the Dealership in Kingston, Ontario the Business Manager showed me a Carbon Fiber Racing Fairing for an XB9R. I think he told me it came from Buell and he was planning on racing a 9R in the Canadian Thunder Series for 2003. The 9R was replacing his old S1. Personally, I like the look of the frame on the 9R and 9S. |
