I just got off of the phone with our good friend Paul Rogers and could tell by his lovely voice that he is indeed alive. He asked me to post some info about his near catastrophic road trip. It involves a few fast moving and some non-moving vehicles a Nun and a small child with a teddy bear. Some serious stunt driving, of the caliber that would put Craig Jones to shame, and our dear Paul is still on top of the dirt instead of under it. O.K....O.K., I may have embellished just a tad. Paul grabbed too much brake when some unexpected Powersliding was being perpetrated in front of him on a major highway(and I am sure he was probably driving on the wrong side of the road as Austrailians will do). Well let us just say that Ol' Paul is a certified member of the OTH(over the handlebars) club. He has some road rash, some bruised ribs(don't make him laugh) and a very messed up shoulder(I hope all these technical medical terms don't confuse you guys). Anyway, Paul says he will eventually be fine and I told him that chicks love scars, so he will be O.K. Let's let Paul know how much we love him and send him some fine Badweb get well wishes. Let me be the first to say... Paul, I love you man...Heal quickly and completely...I miss your face. Smooches my friend, Pammy |

Welcome to the club compadré. Hang tough, I feel your pain. Drugs are good. Interesting news though considering that your fellow Aussie, Matt Mladin, six time AMA Superbike champion also crashed recently. Coincidence? I think not. Will miss seeing you at homecoming. Warmest of thoughts and best wishes for a quick recovery amigo. Give me a call if you get too bored. Thanks for posting this Pammy. |

Paul, I hope you have a "SPEEDY" recovery, welcome to the 'OTH' club. We were riding together when I entered the 'OTH' club. I think I might have went over the hood of that car as well at the "Running the Ridge" in 04' I hope the EMT's didn't cut off all your gear and cloths and leave you in your undies like the did me. I still owe you a cold beer, get well and come to Ga. We'll do some mountain riding, you already have a free room waiting for you. The beer frig' is stocked with your favorite beer. I even got a few frosted mugs, just the way you like it. The family and I will keep you in our thoughts and hope you heel fast. |

Heal fast man. Get your bike fixed ASAP: A shiny bike is an effective pain killer. And when you are that far: Wheeling will help healing. All the best from the Northern hemisphere. Hans |

Hey Paul.. Get well soon.. Feel better.. and aside from the OTH club, you now qualify to join C.O.B.B. Yep, the Crippled Old Biker Bastards.. I don't know if there is 'chapter' in your neck of the woods, but I suppose you could start one! Take care, and I'll see ya again.. well.. some day perhaps.. |

Bomber, of course there is a club. I first joined at the tender age of 16(REAL tender). I then became a charter member at the age of 20. Neither were as exciting as Paul's recent flight, but still very clear in my memory (even though it was a couple of years ago ). |

rat's, I've miss an opportunity to wear a patch, display a pin, get drinks bought, bragged about poor judgement? (OK, I've done the last . . . . . . target rich environment, doncha know?) my first was also at 16 (though a lil before YOUR 16), and then again a bit later in life there are SOME things that never fade from memory anywho, prayerwheels on high speed automatic for ya Paul -- |

Paul, Very sorry to hear about your "get off". I truly hope you mend quickly with minimal discomfort. We're really going to miss you at homecoming. Here's Paul (on the right) back in 03 giving sage advice to Peter on how to get into the 150 club. Or maybe he's just hiding his hair with that nifty hat... Brad

Paul advises that he is not quite up to typing yet due to some sore fingers, but he is doing fine in his healing and appreciates all the well-wishes. He says the bike is not too bad for the tumble and is already arranging its repair. Mostly cosmetic and a tail section subframe is all. |

A Big Thankyou for all the get well wishes and phone calls from all of you. I am well on the mend, the only long term issue will be the right shoulder injury will be seeing the Ortho surgeon next week after more x-rays to look at what can be done. It was a bit awkward to start with as with right arm strapped up and I had dislocated my thumb and bashed my the left hand which made using it difficult. Ribs still hurt like hell but time will sort them out. Road rash and ankle healing up OK. As accidents go it was not a big one To much front brake while trying to avoid a 4WD in a panic stop. I missed the back of the 4WD, but failed to release the brake lever prior to doing the best stoppie I have ever managed. Next thing I was flying through the air upside down looking at the XB12R following me sliding upside down. Then I am lying in the road bike on top of my left leg praying that the car behind me will not run me over. After that it's a blur of well meaning passers by, followed by some very good Paramedics then flat on a table being poked, prodded and x-rayed. The XB crashed very well if that is possible, the repair estimate is $4,000 AUD to put that into perspective they cost $18,000 AUD to purchase. I started riding at 16 and at 51 this is the first crash I have ever had on the Road (I wont mention dirt bikes and scrub bashing that's different ) so that's not a bad record, just hope its another 35 years till my next crash. The worst part is not the pain or busted bike it's that I had to cancel my trip to the US and will not be seeing you all at homecoming next week. Have a beer or three for me and will see you all next time I get over there. Paul Rogers |

Consume beer while thinking warm thoughts of you? I can do that! Will do! You left out the funny part where the lady standing over you exclaimed, "I thought you were dead!" Hope to see you soon. That reminds me, I've been meaning to take a photo of the home in Kilgore here that has the two cement lions standing guard at the entrance to the driveway; they're perched up atop pedestals and everything. The red lips the homeowners thought would look good add a fairly comedic look to the stone beasts. I wonder, is their a coffee table book for cement lions? Some reminders of your last visit up-over...
Demolition is fun.
Demolition is fun - part deux.
Good friends and good beer is even more fun though.
Scrutinizing the service manual for the cement lion?
