What gear do you wear when you go riding? Me. When its hot out I go sleeveless T and brain bucket helmet. I still wear jeans and boots though. Nothing gets me worse than some yuppy punk riding his ricer in nikes and shorts. If its cold I go full coverage helmet and leather coat but still in jeans. P.S. Sorry if youre that yuppy punk. |

I have two armored Joe Rocket jackets. One mesh and the other textile with [removable] liner. So I'm covered from cold to hot weather... Helmet. Puck gloves. Back protector. Armored mesh riding pants. Combination of which depends on ride & destination... |

I want to add that all combined, I think I spent around $500 or less thru sales and judicious ebay snarfing. Do not let money be a factor in keeping you from being protected. |

I;m like midkynte. I have a combination of armored jackets. From heavily lined to lightly lined to mesh, that I wear depending on Situation. I never ride without some sort of jacket, gloves, my sidi's, and a full face helmet. It never gets that hot up here that I don't have a jacket I can't wear. I think it comes from going down in a light non armored jacket, and cutting myself up pretty good, that I now always wear it. |

I get asked about my gear alot when it's hot out and my answer is--I'd rather sweat than bleed. Aerostich pants,Frank Thomas boots, and either a Motoport or a Technic jacket, both are armored.Only time I am in shirt sleeves and gloveless is hanging my arm out the window of the truck. |

1. Full coverage Shoei helmet. 2. a. Tourmaster textile with armor b. Tourmaster mesh with armor c. Vansom leather jacket d. Harley Davidson leather pants. e. Tourmaster mesh pants with armor. 3. Buell racing boots Wolverine zip up boots 4. Various pairs of gloves (full fingered) I don't wear all the gear at once (should go without saying). Like Firemanjim says rather sweat than bleed. I gave up preaching safety years ago. The old school of hard knocks really hurts. |

3 different jackets from heavy leather to mesh, depending on the riding and the temperature. 3 different boots, also depending on the above. 4 different gloves, from toasty warm to ventilated Alpinestars with kevlar. different pants, from draggin' jeans to 1st gear leathers. You'll never see me in a wife beater and a brain bucket. Not since I moved out of the trailer park, anyway. I'm like Midknyte, I doubt I have more than $700 in gear. E-Bay and New Enough are awesome. |

Someone (MC mag article I think) once wrote about gear, crashing and such and used an analogy similar to this; When you ride, cast a short glance at the road whizzing by beneath you. If it reminds you of a belt sander at speed, you're not far off. If you had to press a body part against a spinning belt sander, would you prefer said body part to be covered with something abrasion resistant? I know I would. As you may suspect by now, I wear all top quality gear all the time. Bart; interesting that you would label someone for what they choose to wear while riding. Henrik |

Rum runner any of the above mentioned mesh jackets work well in warm weather. I really like me Tourmaster. I also have a Joe Rocket that I bought as a close out from New Enough. Like wearing a t-shirt with armor. |

Joe Rocket convertible jacket - waterproof liner with a mesh underneath for most riding (most of the flashy rocket emblems and stuff removed). Leather Fieldsheer leather jacket with vents if I think I might push myself. Buell gloves for most conditions, First Gear mesh for really hot (90+ F). HJC AC-11 Sidi Vertebra tepor boots or duty boots if riding to work. I avoid riding in shoes that don't cover my ankles. I have Fieldsheer armored mesh pants for long rides in hot weather, usually I just wear jeans. |

summer commute-harley- perf gloves(technic)- mesh jacket(fieldsheer)- jeans, boots, half helmet(bell) summer commute-buell same, but fullface shoei sport rides get back protector, leather or air mesh pants, better gloves and boots winter commute-leather or cordura, warmer gloves, zipover leather pants, fullface. haven't stopped falling down, but have limited the roadrash. oh yeah, don't put your hands out to slow yourself down when you're sliding down the highway at 70mph. ride safe, tim |

Anything above 45 degrees (liner in) and above 60 degrees (liner out), a Firstgear Mesh Tex II mesh jacket, with added Buell patches (not shown).
Buell Puck Gloves.
KBC FFR Freeze helmet.

I agree with Firemanjim. I'd rather sweat than bleed. first gear perforated 2 piece suit, arai helmet, 3 different pairs of gloves, and sidi vertigo boots are my standard kit. A kbc force RR is soon to be added. |

arai full face. when riding hard(no matter how hot)2 piece frank thomas leathers with armor.. alpinestar boots.. dianese cloves with carbon fiber and kevlar.. the gloves were expensive as hell, but worth it when i laid the x1 down.. i just ordered a joe rocket airmesh jacket with armor..and plan on getting the air mesh pants soon... on a side note.a yuppy punk" went down last week on a local freeway.. i work on helicopters and know the local lifeflight pilots.. they told me tha guy had died not from serious head/abdomen injuries..but he bled out from road rash.. thats like jumping out of a plane with an umbrella for a parachute if you ask me |

anyone who's worked in "people" rescue or a level 1 trauma center, has seen more than their fare share of bike-cidents...and well, it's usually pretty ugly, ESPECIALLY without proper gear. I was telling my Buelligan better half the other night, MAN..I so wish I could ride without a jacket sometimes, but I just can't bring myself to be bare skinned. I ride with a full armour Joe Rocket mesh jacket (removable waterproof liner-removed), buell puck gloves, big scary boots and a scorpion full face helmet ALWAYS.. I live in South Florida and it gets pretty warm here, but I'd rather sweat than bleed also.. IT ONLY TAKES ONE TIME WITHOUT GEAR .... you can guess the rest |

When its hot out I go sleeveless T and brain bucket helmet. Nothing gets me worse than some yuppy punk riding his ricer in nikes and shorts. I don't see the difference. Kinda funny that you seem so angry about the 'yuppy punk' for what he wears yet you state only wearing a sleeveless T and a 'helmet' that isn't at all protective. hmmm. My summer gear.. . - Shoei X-11 full-face - Vanson EXO jacket - Thor Ride Pant - Going to try out Icon knee guards, had two other sets and didnt like 'em - Joe Rocket Supermoto gloves - Alpinestars Effex boots I only sweat when i'm not moving so, i try to keep moving and I'm def guilty of wearing jeans and sneaks on short rides. bad idea, but i do it. Winter gear, same as above with Chilis as my base layer. |

I forgot I also have a joe rocket sahara cooling liner for a mesh jacket. I'll be getting a new mesh jacket again soon. and Icon field armor for when I'll be riding in a spirited fashion. It's been my experience that mesh gear with a wicking shirt underneath feels cooler than wearing just a t-shirt. |

Everything except the rainsuit is in the mail to me now. It's like Christmas Eve. I just bought a Spidi Netstep 365 H2OUT Jacket and FirstGear HT II OverPants with hip and knee armor upgrades. Almost bought closeout Gericke overpants, but I have a short inseam and the HT II comes in short, reg and tall. Nice to have pants fit! The jacket and pants have zip-out waterproof liners which is kind of cumbersome dealing with a sudden summer downpour. I might carry my one-piece Triumph rainsuit instead. It's very visible. Only slightly less of a pain to deal with than removable liners. Just won some Lee Parks deerskin gauntlets on eBay. Yeah they're neither armored nor waterproof. Oh well, I love the feel of deerskin, and they're pretty thick. |

Joe Rocket Revolution jacket, Joe Rocket steel jeans, Heavy elkskin chaps, leather jacket, Motoboss 2 piece leather suit. Arai Quantum F. JR gloves. Sidi boots. Aerostich Roadcrafter on order. I used to ride w/ Jean jacket and levis, and I was picking gravel out of my leg for a month because I had the chaps in my saddlebag instead of on me! DOH!!! I found out real quick in last summer's heat here in NYC that riding in the textile jacket and fullface was actually much less fatiguing. I only tried the beanie and leather vest once or twice and realized I was better off "sweating" in my gear as opposed to being exposed to the Sun and hot wind. You may think you are cooler in your tee and beanie, but that jacket is actually protecting you from the sun and heat, as well as armoring your skin! I do just go out in the steel jeans and jacket occasionally, but I always wear gloves and boots, atleast my cowboy boots if not the sidis. I'd wear the 2 piece more, but I have "grown" (groan) |

I'm pretty much like the majority of you Buell full leather jacket ( bought used from a pawn shop on ebay - $75) Full leather overpants - new on ebay, $99 Army issue Tanker boots ($55) full leather gloves Scorpion EXO 400 Warhawk helmet If it's really hot and I know I'll be on city streets only, I lose the pants and just do jeans. Once in 3 years of riding I did do shorts, t shirt and sneakers (took the back roads to Home Depot trying to get there before closing). It felt great but where Fireman Jim uses the rather sweat than bleed motto, mine (borrowed)is Dress for the fall, not for the ride |

LMAO Jeans and boots but shirt and brain bucket is like playing ice hockey goalie with leg pads and no blocker, glove or stick, Why make fun of the yuppies when you are doing the same thing in reverse? BTW, I wear a Joe Rocket Phoniex or leather full face, full fingered puck gloves, SIDI boots and jeans or leather pants. Sweating is better than bleeding to quote FMJ |
