hi! :)

if you ever want to chat about bikes beyond those offered here, check out www.garagetuners.com . It's a new site and it's growing very fast. About 400 members in its first month without advertising. Simple word of mouth. There are forums there for bikes as well as cages. The staff there are helpful and mature, as well. :)

I hope I'm not out of line by posting this here.

come check us out. :)

Went & checked it out. Appears to be a lot of snot nosed kids who think their clapped out 84 civic with the 4" fart can is a 10 sec fast & the furious machine.

Loved the comment in the tiny lil bike section from the one idiot who thinks a jockey shift is "rad".

>>>Blakes probably gonna bitch & delete it.

It's Blake's BUELL bulletin board, that see's well within his purview does it not?

I mean, does Sears allow J. C. Penny's to set-up catalog order kiosk's in their isles?

It's simple, logical and intuitive that it's, at the very least, "odd" to have an essentially competing site coming here to "advertise".

We started this site the same way and it's grown to be the PREMIER BUELL site. There are others serving the same purpose for different manufactures and varying interests. I keep up with the "Chain Gang" and the Dual Sport" groups given my interest in them.

Badweather Bikers has grown as a voracious pace and become a valuable source of information. The TEAM ELVES racee team developed by the members of this site has become one of the most successful motorcycle racing teams in Bonneville history.

I wish these folks all the luck, but to those of us who have written checks to make this site work, I'd certainly hope these folks understand and troll somewhere else.

Gosh..that seems to make sense.

Now, give us the important news and update up on the Grandkid!

Hey, for what it's worth, I visited the site. Call me cynical, but as a person who's been doing this Buell web stuff longer than anyone here and who, in reward, gets more damn spam than you can possibly imagine, I have a natural suspicion of sites that require me to register and provide birthdate information to even VIEW them.

I can see, as a vehicle to keep site busters from posting, that you'd require at least prefunctory registration for posting, but I'd like to at least be able, ala SACBORG, to view the place before I provide info.

And what's up with "birthday" info, is there an age requirement to blow a motor?

:)

Thanks, but no thanks,
Court

Ummm Court, perhaps if you actually took the time to peruse the site you would see that in no way does it compete with badweb. Its primarily a foreign based car site. The bike section in there has maybe 4 posts. That site provides as much competition with badweb as Bestbuy or Sears does.

As far as the registration thing goes. A lot of sites now days are doing that. Try checking out the ATC forums without registrating.

As far as my grandbaby, no updates right now. he ended up getting rsv which is a some sort of viral cold that really screws up babies & older people. In bad cases it can easily kill, but we caught it in the early stages. His head is all plugged up & its hard for him to breathe. They are giving him breathing treatments & cleaning out his nasal passsages as needed. They say he will be ok, but its going to get worse before it gets better.

You're right, I didn't look at it for the reasons above. I haven't visited the ATC site since it appeared to have imploded. I've heard it is still active, but have seen/heard little since Jay tossed in the towel.

We're pulling for the Grandkid!

ATC has improved quite a bit since Jay jumped ship. Its now americanthunderbike.org instead of the old .com.

Unfortunately yes.

Ahh...this would explain why me nor any of the factory folks will ever have our cookies snatched there.

I'll bet it is good, glad to have seen that it still exists and didn't even realize that Jay had "jumped ship".

Just goes to show that there's tons more going on than I am even aware of in my little world.

Thanks,

Hate to burst your protective cocoon there Court. But the factory folks do read ATC. I myself was told by Renee in Customer service that they themselves read it.

Also were you even aware that Buell advertises on ATC??? Now why would the factory pay to advertise on a site if they never had their cookies snatched there????

I have been told by numerous Buell & Harley employees that they do read the sites. Not all of them will post, but they do visit.

Wow, look at that Court, Blake is a member of ATC & actually pays $$$ for it. Big ole dummy Sasquatch.

I wonder how many other folks from here have been there? I know Aaron posts there quite a bit & the Nallins advertise there. Yea I guess your right that nobody from the factory would be caught going there. After all why go to a site that the factory advertise's on??

Ya know I looked around here & didnt see a Buell banner, hmmmm.

Dyna,

I first paid for an ATC membership back in 2000. That was when Jay and Donna were publishing their print magazine. I anteed up for three years the last time, that was when Jay suffered his "gobbledegook" episode in Colorado. When the magazine publication ceased it got doubled to a six year membership.

I think Court is alluding to the active participation here, perhaps unknown to all but Court, of some key people; "participation" meaning more than just casual lurking; "key" meaning of significant import in the Buell community.

Frankly, anyone that begins a sentence with the likes of "Hate to burst your bubble, but" or "hate to burst your protective cocoon, but" comes across to me as less than respectful. Then to that you add "believe what you want." In the end, use of that tone says more about the author than the object of such disingenuous ridicule. Court could flat out call me an idiot, and I'd not cease showing him the respect he deserves.

You are obviously free within the prescribed BadWeB etiquette to do and say as you please. Personally, when it comes to things Buell, I'll put my trust in the accuracy of Court's statements.

Am I missing something? Are Badweb and ATC in some sort of competition? I thought this site was a web site for people interested in discussing Buells. The ATC is a club with a web site that's open to almost everybody. I'm an ATC member; I joined when I bought my S3T in June of '98. Jay and Donna are two of the finest people I've ever met. My wife and I were married in their living room, and we were honored that they would extend the use of their house for our wedding.
Scott Berry is now the head of ATC. He has an enthusiasm that is very contagious. While the print magazine has suspended publication, the electronic magazine is viewable on the Site.
I enjoy both sites. Each has its own flavor and personality. Both are run by people who love Buells. Do we really need an "us vs. them" mentality? I come here because I enjoy reading and writing about Buell related topics (and bitching about the winter).

Absolutely not. From the time I helped Jay when he was creating ATC, I've been a fan and supporter. Glad to hear it is in good hands. Jay and Donna are wonderful people and have been a huge asset to the Buell Community.

No us vs them at all. Just a bit of a pissing contest when Court proclaims that nobody from the factory will visit ATC.

Blake, my posts were not meant as a sign of disrespect, but when Court give bad advice or is talking about something which is just plain wrong I will call him on it.

This was posted by Scott on ATC.......

I gave Erik his own ID, and he has posted here a couple of times. I'm the only one who knows who he is. So court your wrong buddy!!!

Buell does advertise with ATC. I haven't seen them advertise on any other BORG groups. We had over 62 visits from Buell and mother ship Harley Davidson this month alone. I'd say were being watched.

"Blake, my posts were not meant as a sign of disrespect, but..."
No they weren't a "sign of disrespect" they were simply disrespectful. Frankly I for one find no redeeming value in a smart ass online demeanor. I've met you in person; the real Greg is nothing like the online "Dyna" persona. Suggest you try to be more true to your real self online.

The best way to chase Buell contributors away from a web site discussion board? Announce specifically their presence to all.

Concerning the Buell online ad campaign... That is the purview of Laughlin Constable. Apparently they don't feel $100/month is a good enough investment to justify continuing their advertising campaign here on BadWeB. No big deal. On a month to month basis, it ain't worth my time for any less.
