Spidey,

I never tried the stock seat but the only thing that is good for is to make the bike look good, cause it sure is useless to ride on even for a short period of time.

The Corbin is very comfortable, a little hard but you get used to that.

Excuse the mess but I have been sanding the old tank in the garage.

The Stock with Manta Tank

stock seat

The amazing Spiderman is correct as it will not sit flush with the back of the tank.

The Corbin with Manta Tank

Actually this one just barely fits as well, luck me, as the front of the seat has a steeper angle than the stock one

For those wondering the Old Honda near the wall is a 1971 CB450T and the the other Old Honda is a 1975 CB500T, both are old twin cylinders with double overhead cams - they have been kicking around for quire some time now and I am not sure what to do with them. The Z50 is my 7yr old son's bike, what you don't see are two Suzuki 50cc quads that my 4 & 5 year old boys ride as well. Imagine people down south thought we just played Hockey, lived in Igloos and wrestled Polar Bears up here

The closest Honda in the pic is actually completely stock with the exception of the mufflers. I also have an electronic ignition and the pick-up where the points went are optical. Real simple design but apparently it works. I have lost interest in the old bikes since I purchased the S1 and since they are not costing me anything to sit there then they will remain there.

The Manta Tank has been sanded to the primer and was it ever a pain to do. You have to be especially careful around the ridges so you don't damage the plastic.

I hear people complain about retailers and parts availability but I can honestly say that when I have the part numbers or when the parts guy/gal are willing to help there are no problems. I was at the retailer in Dartmouth, NS on February 14th, 2003 and ordered the tank decals (1999 Decals which are plastic) At the time the retailer was out of stock and they had to be ordered. I was back home in Newfoundland on February 17, 2003 and had the parts on February 18, 2003.

I would think thats excellent service and anything else I have ordered in the past has come with roughly the same efficiency.

Thanks for the concern,

BUT,

I did not sand the tank while on the bike, the parts were fitted to prove/disprove Spidey's Theory.

Actually while the sanding was ongoing the air filter was still attached to the side so no debris actually made it in there.

All that has to come off soon before the motor is started as my brand new in the box Thunderstorm Heads/Pistons have arrived. I am a bit torn over installing all or I should wait and have the heads ported and polished. I would send the heads to Nallins or Cycle-rama but with the exchange rate on the dollar is brutal at the moment. There is a place in Ontario "Headquarters" that does head work but I am not sure what they would do to them.
