I am new to this board. I do not have a buell yet but I am looking. Here is the question XB9 or XB12. I have ridden a 2001 XI with exhaust and a computer installed. Is the 12 worth the money? I dont need to go insanely fast but some power would be nice. |

First, I assume you have an older Pontiac.. What ya got? Second, it depends on what you like. The 9 has more revs..some say it feels faster(because it revs faster do to different primary gearing).. But the 12 will have about the same power as the X1, only ALOT smoother as the fuel systems issues had been ironed out.. I have ridden both, and I personally prefer the the lower grunt of the 12..but,t he 9 is fun also.. The best thing I can suggest, decide which model you want, A lightning, or firebolt, then, take them for a ride, one with the 9 motor, and one with the 12 motor.. Thats teh great thing about buells...they let you test them.. I am pretty sure there are some Buellers in your area... Welcome the the board.... Hope that helps Chase |

Att Eric my 2 cents I have a 2001 X1 with 40,000 miles on it, I will pull the rocker boxe's this week (waiting for shipment from Dave) It has been a very solid bike with no problems and is a pleasure to ride. My 2004 firebolt is a fun bike but it is to wheele prone and the riding posision is to agressive to ride on a long trip. I like them both BUT if I could have only 1 bike it would be the X1. Ride them both and choose the one that suits you best.It dont make any difference for realibility. I have found both bikes as tough as justin boot leather, and both are very good bikes |

Forgot to mention that I am 70 yr's old. I sitll run them very hard, but the X1 sure is better on these old bones. he he |

I like them both BUT if I could have only 1 bike it would be the X1. Thats why I just have an X1.... This bike has been great to me..been crashed(several times, and always able to be ridden home)..abused...leaks like a seive.. But, I keep vital fluids in it..and it carries me everywhere I need to go... Chase} |

I'd go with the XB12. The power and torque is just more fun with a 12. The 9 feels a bit more refined at low rpm because it judders and shakes less, but at speed they are both equally smooth. |

No easy way to answer this one, you have to ride them to find out. The 12 has a lot more grunt off the bottom which allows you to be lazy with it. The 9 has ~700 rpm more to play with, but it needs to be spun a bit to keep it going. The 9 has shorter gearing which makes it nearly as quick, but also has it spinning higher on the interstate. I bought a 12 because I like the low end grunt and extra power, along with being a sucker for the red/black color scheme. If I did more track days or lived somewhere with better roads I probably would have saved some cash and bought a 9. |

Thanks guys. I am having a hard time locating one here in Wichita as there are not many here. There is an XB9R abotu an hour from here. And Chase I have a 1970 Formula 400. |
