Brad, I did spot weld a large diameter fender washer where each bolt goes through the channel.If I was to start over again I would go 9" wide for sure. Good luck.

Pete,
Do you use the kick-stand mounting bracket on YOUR bike lift system? Doesn't look like it from the pictures, just curious. I'm going to start modifying mine later on in the week to work with different bikes.

Jim,
No. I only use the big bracket if I use the wheel supports, but I bolt another small one between it and one of the lower primary cover bolts, instead of using the stand. I didn't buy the correct Buell kit as it wasn't how I saw the system being used anyway. |

Pete,
Finished fabricating and modifying the stand-offs for my bike lift today. I can't believe how sturdy this puppy is, pretty impressive. I also used the kick-stand mounting type system.

Pete,
Thought it would be useful if the lift was on wheels. So today I bought some sweet wheels for the lift. They swivel 360° and are lockable in both directions (rotational/swivel). Haven’t modified the lift yet, still have quite a few things left to do on the bike. Will post a few images after everything is finished, cleaned up and and power coated. |

Just a slight aside; did anyone get to see the Orange County Shopper show where they managed to let not ONE but TWO $150,000 customs flop off the lifts to the floor? HoooHaaa, the old man was steamin'!!

I've been trying to find a pic on the net of the wheels I want to put on mine.
They are a large steel ball in their own holder and are used in factories the other way up, on tables to slide heavy things across them (make sense?). I used some on a remote control jacket prop and they worked well. They are available up to about 650kg rating each, so should be plenty strong enough. I'll also put a couple of threads through the stands with a screw down handle to stop the stand moving. |

Nope ... not sure what you're talking about. Will look on the Internet myself later on tonight.
Ended up taking the cool wheels I bought back to the dealer today. I did quite a few different designs but couldn't get anything to work to my satisfaction with the design of wheel I bought. I wanted them to swivel 360 deg. and also lock. Even though they were small, they took up to much room for the 360 turn.
I think a 360 degree rotateable, cylindrical polyurethane wheel, like they use under some Pallet Jacks would be perfect. I sketched up something in Autocad below;

Wow ... interesting. I've used the transportrolwagens (or something similar to move some large chillers and boilers) before but I've never heard nor seen the Kogelrollens, which are very cool to say the least. I can see a lot of uses for those pup(s). I'm not sure how well they'd work on a unclean floor, that's why I was looking for a polyurethane type wheel. Are you going to give them a shot? I'll go to a wheel shop today and see if I can find them or something like them.

I saw this bike lift on www.mcnews.com.........thinking about making one since I don't have access to a the tools for welding and such.
