Hello All,
I’m new and this seemed like the best spot to make an introduction. I've signed the guest book, so I'm hoping that I'm on the right track to properly introducing myself. My name is Jason and I’m from DC. Now living in God's Country riding the Blue Ridge PW here in Roanoke, VA. I’m a U of Maryland @ College Park alum, with a BSME…GO TERPS. My 1st love has always been cars. I am the pound owner (not for long) of a 1987 Buick Grand National, hence the Used Name. I must admit before I took the GN off the road, since just about no car that I ran into had much of a chance against the 700 HP 3.8 Turbo, most of the time, I had the most fun racing bikes. I have also always LOVED bikes, mainly a Harley guy first (sorry every one for having a Shadow for now). I’m looking to get 9R in the spring, for rocking the track days to keep me having fun while I'm keeping my new turbo V6 stock (Audi S4). FYI, I have owned and recently got rid of an 01 Yami R6. Power was nice, but way too much shifting and revs. By the way, I have test rode a 12SX. Am I flipping the S and the X, still learning the Buell Vocab? Can't believe how SICK it was at handling....far and above better then the R6. I’ll be posting asking a lot of questions about Buells, so if you can be of any help, that would be GREAT, so thanks advance. Well, nice meeting every one in. I’m very glad to be here. Let me know if I can help any one else out in any way.

Regards,
Jason

Hello Jason, and welcome to the madness!!
Sounds like you've done a "little" work on that GN. Once you decide which to get (s or X), keep us posted. If you are mainly wanting a track day bike I would opt for the R, but then again you can do alot to the S model to get similar ride, but have the radical look.

Welcome to the BADWEB! A 700HP Grand National? SWEET! Nothing wrong with having a Shadow in the stables. Just keep riding.

Welcome aboard you WANKER! 'Bout time you showed up! You test rode an XB12S.

U4euh-That GN was soooo sick! He scared my socks off I don't know how many times in that car!

Nick

Welcome aboard. For some reason, there seem to be a lot of ME's who are BadWebbers; I think we've counted at least 7 or 8.

The GN sounds pretty cool. My first new car was a 1978 Buick Regal with the first-generation turbo'ed 3.8L V-6, with a ground-scorching 165 HP! Believe it or not, that was considered fairly radical at the time. It's amazing how far Buick (and aftermarketers) were able to push that basic engine.

Thanks all for the warm intro. I think the next mission is to test out a Ulysesse. Think I'm on point that I'm going to like the 9R the best. However, why not try out the Ulysesse, heard GREAT things about that bike.

An ME in DC?

We might have a trip out your way before year's end.

You happy where you're working? Consider a move to CA? Consider working for an Aerospace/Defense company? US Citizen?

(not that I'm pimpin' for my company)

Whodom,
That's GREAT!!! So cool to hear about other Regals. I'll for sure return to owning one later in my life. Thanks again for sharing.

Jason; welcome. Doesn't matter what you ride really. Roanoke - you're smack dap in the middle of some of my favorite but far away riding. Keep us posted on your test rides and impressions. Always fun to hear.

Slaughter,
I was interested in moving out to Palmdale to work for Garret, being the turbo freak that I am. I’m ok where I’m at now with my job. It’s a good job that is building my resume nicely. However, I’m open-minded to other job opportunities.

Thanks Henrik,
Any time you want to get some riding in, in the Roanoke area, let me know. My house is always open with a warm bed and a cool beer...for drinking after riding of course (zero beer rule while riding for me). For that matter, my house is open to any one, just drop me a line.

Jason,
Shoot me a PM so we can set up some riding.
I have recently met and rode with a fellow BWB who lives in Roanoke as well and hope to work in at least a nice weekly ride together.
I live in the Mt. Pleasant area. What about yourself?

Jason drop in the STORM Fronts section. scroll down to "Roanoke Valley Fast & Loose". We keep decent tabs on local rides and other happenings there. If this rain ever stops I plan on riding up to the race at summit point this weekend. NUTS

Didn't mean to get sidetracked by the engineering thing - welcome - and if we do hit DC, it's looking like early next year - we'll stay in touch!

V8Killr/Slaughter,
Nothing wrong with MEs, there's lots of us here. V8, I am originally from Southern PA, an hour or so from where you're at and still keep a Buell there for when I'm home. I'll be back east around Christmas, we've got to go riding.

Slaughter,
Met you up in Appleton, what ya go going in CA? Sometimes I get an urge to move, not really tied to much of anything at the time!

Al, Jason (and others)...

Major recruiting effort going on. Perpetually short handed here in Palmdale.

http://www.lmaeronautics.com/palmdale/index.html

Corporate site is:

http://www.lockheedmartin.com/wms/findPage.do?dsp=fnec&ti=100

- there's a "careers" link on either webpage. Corporate lists jobs being offered worldwide.

If you're thinking of something specific - ask me offline. There's stuff pending that hasn't been posted.

If you see something that looks good in Palmdale, send me the link and I can check it out to see WHO is offering the job - sometimes it's a group that you really don't want to get hooked up with unless you're willing to re-relocate in a couple years again.

...and again, I'm an engineer NOT a recruiter or HR person.

If it gets serious, they're offering serious finders fees too! (split em with you)

Relocation bucks and sign-up bonuses.

With hurricanes Katrina and Rita though, we have over 2500 souls in our Michoud facility that are a bit uncertain and we're trying to absorb them into other facilities across the country on a temporary basis.

Problem is the $&^#ing real estate costs in CA are through the roof - even here in the desert.

Thanks all for the kind welcomes. Here at work, just dropping a quick read. Have not had a lot of time to read all that was written, since I'm not on lunch. However, wanted to say thanks for the welcome once again.

Slaughter,
I'm updating my resume in the evenings as we speak. However, I'm somewhat happy at my job...just updating as normal resume maintenance. I’ll read up on the Lockheed sight once I’m done updating and I get a chance. By the way, I worked for Lockheed in Rockville, MD.
