Ok, I can get my hands on a set of the GP plastics from Airtech, from a firend, who has had them in his garage for a while...

My first and foremost concern, is heat... will the bike adequetly cool whiel running these fairings, on the street?

I know they dont weigh much, as I have moved them around...and I would probably keep the X1 tail..unless someone has the blueprints to fit a S1 subframe on a X1...

Anyway, there azre other issues, but they can be addressed as they arise... hopefully this will be a project for the cold wet days when I get home in Jan...

Just looking for opinions....

Oh yeah, I am currently running crossroads bars...do I HAVE to conevert to clip ons to clear teh plasitcs?

Chase....if you decide not to go with them, I might be interested. I have the Airtech tail section for track days. It's not the best stuff but it's better than worrying about cracking up my nice pearl white paint.

now if I could only find time to get to the track

NO one actually running these?????

Lake, I will run them, one way or the other..I will bve moving to maine in the spring anyway, it very rarely gets much warmer than 70(according to teh almanac)....

So, I shoudl be okay....I was just wondering..

Though I really do need to know if I have to run full clip ons, or if my cross roads bars are good enough....

I Had the Airtech stuff on my S1, and I do believe you have to have the clip-ons. I'm sure you could do some hacking to make your bars fit.

I have it on the Bonneville bike.Several "issues"
you will need clip-ons,the headlite mounting "system" is non existant.I was told to use silicone to mount the headlight. The aircleaner system was too weird to try to use.And of course--no instructions what so ever. And NO customer service help when I called with questions.

Yeah, I tried talking to someone there, and wasnt impressed....

So, I am turning here for help...

I am personally not one for plastics, but I dont know if its cause its so short, or what, but I like the looks of the Buell with the plastic...

Anyway, Jim, how did you mount it, etc...

And, anyone wanna trade soem crossroads bars for clip-ons?....

What about my exhaust, do I just cut a hole and call it good?

How did you do the aircleaner, etc..... I havent tried to mock it up yet, they are sitting in his shep, up in the rafters, collecting dust....

Anyway, Thanx, for any and all help, I really do aprreciate this..I have said ti before, and I will say it again, ya'll are the best..

BTW, Jim, did it help with aero? And how much weight was added when all was said and done?

Chase,

Airtech makes custom one of a kind fairings. They only make the plastic. Their supply of windsheilds is severely limited. Gustafson plastics in florida can make pretty much anything you will need. Mounting hardware is a roll your own proposition.

We mounted an airtech faring recommended by owner for our XR-750. Major pita cutting it to fit and mount. We went from about 133.5 mph to 153.7 mph on the same bike different years. We were impressed by the speed gain and stability at speed. Quality is good for race application.

Going racing with an odd bike, your only option is airtech. They can be quite helpful. we went faster. All I care about.

Definitely helped the aero.Mounting was not hard, but I had to weld ends on the lower brace/bracket as it had no attaching hardware--that is the t-shaped bar that bolts to your front lower frame spar where clutch cable goes. The upper was simple,it just attaches to your sterring neck with clamps.Fitment with exhaust will depend on which header you have on,looks to be mocked up with a non race header. You may not have to cut anything but get some of the glue on heat shielding for that area.I have everything off mine right now so can take pics of brackets. The tail section is basically held on with the seat.
