Here is a report from Planet F-1.com "MotoGP champ Valentino Rossi has apparently tested a Ferrari again. According to reports, the Italian completed 80 laps at the team’s private Fiorano circuit earlier this week. He was said to have set a best lap time just three second slower than the track record set by Michael Schumacher. The session was then followed by a lengthy debrief with technical director Ross Brawn." With one year left on his contract with Yamaha, we may not have him for very much longer:-( |

Another, rather more complete report from Formula1.com Rossi enjoys ‘intensive’ Ferrari run Media speculation that Moto GP world champion Valentino Rossi may consider a future move to four wheels was heightened this week after the Italian spent two days testing with Ferrari at Fiorano. “I wanted to get a better understanding of a Formula One car,” he said. “And I would like to thank Ferrari for giving me the opportunity to do so. The two days were intensive and interesting. “I completed a lot of kilometres and I began to understand the handling of the car, working with the engineers and (official Ferrari tester) Marc Gene. I go back to the two wheels where there is still a long way to go to the end of the season.” It was not Rossi’s first time at the wheel of the F2004. He previously tested the car in April of last year, also at Fiorano. However, he has always played down talk of a move to Formula One racing and only this week renewed his contract with Yamaha for 2006. |

I think he does it so that he can "slow down" when he gets on his GP bike. Makes it easier to go faster . |
