sorry for 'jackin' the thread, but....
Pammy, Pop is good. Came through last month after hitting PA for his 68th High School Reunion -- says he won't be doin' that again. 
Here he is w/ my Brother at the WWII Memorial. You can see they're standing in front of the Battle of the Bulge marker. quick bit of history: my Brother is named after his Brother who was killed in that campaign.
OK..., hope to maybe see you in November.

The shop that put the new rear on my XB did something a little different. They removed the weights, then did the first spin, aired down the tire, slathered it with lube and rotated the dot 180 from the light spot being indicated, aired it back up, spun it again, then added only 1/4oz of weight to the light spot. Spub it again, and it zeroed. Just an FYI. Otherwise, Pammy is better then EF Hutton, cause when she talks, I KNOW I pay attention. |

I have had two different front wheels on my bike and several different tires...amazingly none have ever needed any weights. A curb I struck last month with the Castalloy rim has probably fixed that (the other is a PM).
Anyway, that dude is a fool. |

I've had 'em done at various shops save for the last time I did it myself on the dealers digital dynamic balancer. |

The balance weights were not on the bike when I bought it. Just the sticky left over part. So at one point the rear rim did require balancing.
I've sent the "dealership an email" and posted a response on there website. I have yet to get a response. Been busy at work so no time to call or drive the 20 minutes to them.
I did pay with a credit card. So I either get a balance, get a refung, or dispute the charges. |

I never balance my tires. Just pinch them on, wear em out, repeat.
My question is, how would you know if a tire/wheel was out of balance on a Buell, would it stop shaking?

C'mon man, they only ever shake when standing still. And you know you like it.
I don't see much big need for precise balancing either. The small diameter wheel pretty much hinders out of balance effects below 120 mph. A really bad out of balance wheel might be noticeable though. |

I keep the same wheel weights on, put the yellow dot on the new tire at the same place the old one was and call it good. The yellow dot is the heavy spot, light spot, doesn't really matter, it goes to the same place. Haven't had any problems with my Cyclone with that plan, and will do the same with my Firebolt when I change tires in a few weeks. Once the wheel has been balanced once, I have confidence in tire manufacturers that they are building a tire, more or less balanced, when it leaves their door.

Out of balance tires will also effect earths orbit, but not enough for earth to crash into the moon.
How you going to feel a slight out of balance on a bike that shakes like a dog shittin' peach seeds?
Once you corner hard for a day, slide the bike, hit a chuck hole, etc. the balance is going to be off anyway. Try checking the balance after 2K miles. Surprize! Your previously balanced tire, isn't. |

I put a fancy Harley chrome skull wheel weight on the rear tire. It's a great joke when the rest of my bike looks filthy. I can say I have a chrome accessory, as well. |
