changed out the air cleaner on my '99 m2, now i'd like to clean up the bracket that the housing was attached to. the service guys at the harley dealership suggested using a dremel to remove the extended end of the motor mount bracket. i'm looking for suggestions, or cautions from anyone who has done this. what type of cutting tool / blade did you use. should i be concerned about affecting the integrity of the remaining metal due to heat caused by the cut. the fact that the cut has to be made anywhere near the motor mount makes me nervous. thanks for your help. | ||

When I took the box off my 97 S3 I changed to a X1 front motor mount, no cutting necessary. Carter | ||

SonomaC - go with the X1 mount. Some of those motor mounts are porous. I'd hate to have you cut and then crack the mount on the nxt wheelie due to a porous casting. | ||

Hacksaw is always good...low heat and slices right through aluminum. | ||

you wont be able to generate enough heat to make any changes. the only time you should be concerned with heat is when the metal changes color | ||

 I used a Sawzall and some sandpaper. It was porous. | ||
