Last week my friends wife Trish hit a deer with her new fatboy, before I get too far she is fine and had a rash on her elbow, sprained ankle, and is sore. She typically doesn’t wear a helmet and I’m convinced she would no longer be with us had she not been wearing it. Her helmet had several deep scratches and worn down to the Styrofoam padding in two spots. Her bike ended up with approximately $6000.00 in damage, oh she was wearing full leathers (Harley type) and they saved her from some severe road rash also. I’m posting this thread just so everyone is aware of the importance of wearing their protective gear while riding, remember accidents do happen and deer do run out in front of motorcycles. Just for everyone’s information, Trish and her husband Lance were on their way back from Signature Harley (near Toledo, OH.) Lance had just purchased a 2005 roadking firefighters edition and he saw the whole thing happen. She got back in the saddle today (passenger), it’s a step in the right direction towards riding again. Thanks Steve |

Kelly's ALmost Wolrd Famous Leathers in Richmond Illinois is now run by Mrs. Kelly, cortesy of a deer/Kelly argument -- according to ILL DNR, there are WAY more deer in this neck of the woods than there were during the first wave of EUro settlement, lo, those many years ago -- no natural predetors, lots of farms to graze in, and natural selection has not yet bred into deer the idea that a motorcycle is a threat (nor into many drivers, for that matter) these things can ruin your entire morning -- gear up, stay alert, stay alive |
