Just got this l'il tidbit from Chick's H-D/Buell in Albuquerque: "BUELLS: Chick is a member of the Buell Strategy Committee and recently they rode two 2006 model Buells at the former American Motors Test Track outside of East Troy, Wisconsin. Chick said that it was great imagining AMC Pacers, Gremlins and Ambassadors staggering around the track all those years ago - railroad tracks, stutter bumps and bumps that would have caused expert test drivers terminal seasickness. Note: look for the 06 Buells July 23 at http://www.buell.com/en%5Fus/news%5Fevents" Hopefully the new models will be more "AMX" than "Pacer"! Hellbuelly J "You can dream, create, design, and build the most wonderful idea in the world, but it requires people...to make the dream wheelie!" --Walt Helldisney P.S. Somebody go twist Chick's arm a little! |

Got that newsletter also. I met him at the Taos Rally last year, really good guy. Chick is a huge supporter of Buell's, and a Buell rider. He even sports a Buell Jacket on the HOG Rides. I seriously doubt you'll get anything out of him though! Only 6 more weeks to end the rumor mill. |

"Only 6 more weeks to end the rumor mill." Or three more days, depending on which rumor mill you were listening too. (sure hope someone has a camera ready and zoomed in and knows what they're seeing when they see it if they see it if it happens ... ) |

Chick's HD shop in Albuquerque is absolutely Buell friendly...compared to so many other HD/Buell shops. They had a great selection of Buell bikes on the floor, a few with SOLD tags displayed prominently. T-shirts in several designs, shirts, jackets, gloves, hats, accessories with a big shipment of stuff at the counter that hadn't been hung out yet. Displayed quite proudly is a pristine RR1000 with a plaque indicating that Chick was the 6th Buell franchise. I had a very pleasant conversation with two sales people there. Both were avid sportbike riders and Buell enthusiasts. IF, I'd have been a city resident, I could have taken a bike out for a test ride. That morsel was offered up right away!! Chick's HD/Buell is a great store and they have the Buell end covered. Always a pleasure to stop and shop there when I'm in town. That blue Springer Softtail was seriously callin' my name... |

Suppose an entirely new model is released with a Vrod type motor making 120+ rwhp. How many of you would dump your XB's ? |

Bummer, Steve, you can still takes pics to post if you want to. Ted, I don't have an XB, but I'd consider a 2for1 straight across deal on a couple of 'tubers if I liked how it fit and worked and rode. |

Suppose an entirely new model is released with a Vrod type motor making 120+ rwhp. To tell you the truth I'd be really pi$$ed if that happened. You can find quotes all over the web of Erik Buell extolling the virtues of air cooled engines. I've read a thread here on badweb where an Anonymous was saying the Vrod motor and the XB chasis didn't work well together. If they all of a sudden came out with a bike like that, I'd feel like they had just been lying to me because they hadn't had one. I hold them to a lot higher standards than to do something like that. |

J' The mood that has always been presented is that water cooling was not necessary and that air cooling will not be abandoned. There has been an admission, as i recall, that a water cooled model might be introduced if it were to satisfy a market demand. It would not signify a shift to WC engines though. |

While talking with Erik at Downtown Harley in Seattle last month I brought up the subject of new models. I told him I'd hate to have just bought a new 2005 model to find out that something completely different was just around the corner. He told me not to worry. I guess we'll find out next month what kind of poker face Mr. Buell has. |

>>>>I'd hate to have just bought a new 2005 model to find out For whatever comfort it is....3 of the folks at the factory, including Erik, who DO KNOW what's coming have recently purchased personal (that's with their own $$$) XB9SX's. Says much. Court |

Erik, did more than just purchase an XB9SX from Hal's HD, he told the BRAG group he had them put a race ecm in as well |

Dump my XB12S for a water cooled 120HP Buell? If I wanted that I would have bought a Suzuki SV1000 or an Aprillia or any number of water cooled v twins on the market already. I'm sure there is a market out there for a water cooled Buell but it's not me I knew the XB was for me the moment I saw it. I have always wanted a Harley Davidson motor they just never put it into a chassis that I wanted that is until Eric built the XB. I for one could care less about the new models for they have already built my perfect bike. |

Reading this thread is like history repeating itself to some of us original tube frame Buellers. Funny thing is the XB's haven't been around that long compared to the tube frame Buell lifespan yet still most of the new breed Buellers want a new model Buell. Is this consumerism at its worst? My guess would be if Erik bought a XB9SX recently then the rumoured new Buell will not be any kind of a Streetfighter whatever motor you think they're gonna shoe horn into it. Of course - I could be entirely wrong as usual!!! Rocket |
