Well, hell, I had been working on getting a BRAG club up and running at a local dealership to be told by the owner yesterday that a BRAG club would not be profitable... I had been willing to do 80% of the work as the Director... but now that is NOT an option for me because I do not think the entire point is to make money for the owner... I thought the point of BRAG was to have fun and to build dealership loyalty .... Last dealership I was a BRAG officer gave us a 20% discount on all goods and services to do the work to keep the thing up and running... Has the world been overtaken by yuppies??? Dismayed... I need to go ride it off... |

I don't know who you are, and I won't look, but my experience with lots of different volunteer gigs has been that they only work if they are done absolutely and totally unconditionally. I do it because I want to for my own reasons, or I don't for the same thing. It's a shame the dealer does not want to mess with it, but at least they are being honest, and not going into it half assed. Just start organizing rides... if you build it, they will come. |

I gotta say that if a BRAG group is not run BY the enthusiasts FOR the enthusiasts, it's doomed to fail. We have had very good luck with our own little mob out of Glendale HD/Buell and it started with Tim and Candice Hurley providing tons of work with incidental support from Glendale. ALL the heavy lifting was done by the members. Yeah, we get trememdous support from the dealer now - but it has grown. Now we even have our race group AND are getting some sweeeet discounts. I don't see a BRAG chapter EVER being a separate profit center... but - contributing to profit indirectly through increased sales? - AB-SO-FREAKING-Lutely! Sure, we make a "profit" when we run a fundrasing BBQ - but that is with "free" labor (volunteers) Geeez... it pisses me off to think a dealer is so short-sighted about what BRAG can represent. Sheee-it - give him MY email address, I'll give him a talking-to!!!. |
