I about wet myself once I realized what was going on. My newly purchased '99 Cyclone was dripping oil onto the floor in my garage. I found oil at the end of the oil drain hose. Simple, me thinks, and I replace the clamp and add 1/2 quart of oil. Next day another wet spot. Doh! Turns out the oil is coming from a crack in the hose at the T fitting in front of the oil tank. Now that is one tight spot to get at. I spent most of the evening getting the oil tank off to replace the hose. This was scary because had this let go out on the road I may have fried a motor. I'll be checking my oil more often after this. TT |

fortunately most of the oil lines on an hd type engine are low pressure, the only one that runs slightly higher pressure (7-12 psi) is the line from the oil pump to the filter. I replaced all my oil lines with braided this winter, quite the project, would have been easier to buy a precut set. |

I thnk you'll find as your bike ages, the propensity for this kind of behavior will likely increase. ;-} |

I have to agree with you Bomber... my 97 M2 (just over 22K miles) is sweating more oil with every mile... the primary cover gasket just sprung a leak last night... I'm gonna have to start wearing wellies when I ride. |

I just bought some braided myself. I've had the feed line get a pinhole and don't want to have that happen again. I'm converting everything but the oil cooler lines to AN fittings. |

note on braided lines -- over time, the rubber inside the braid will deteriorate, and, therefor, leak the braid just makes it tougher to diagnose painful lesson, which took about half a riding seaon to learn -- go make a new mistake of your own ;-} |
