having had a race ecm installed on an otherwise stock X1 and taken it to the track it ran like crap at WOT. the TPS has been reset. big flat spot in 4400-5500 range at WOT. Do I NEED a more open exhaust? intake? I dislike loud pipes. don't want tickets either. was considering wileyco carbon. Thanks, Dan |

Dan, always check the engine temp sensor. It fails without throwing a code most of the time. Its about 35.00 to replace, pretty easy to do. Also check the 02 sensor, you can replace that with a Bosh unit (see kv for part number, I think its 12014) from any auto parts store. Runs around 20.00 That being said, I run the Race ECM forcewinder and wileyco exhaust (stainless). Nice setup, not too loud till yer wide open, and a great bassy sound. The bike pulls clean from about 2500 or so to rev-limiter. I've also run the White Bros E-Series, again it ran fine, it has a harsher sound in my opinion. Since you indicate that it runs fine except at that range I would think that you need a more open pipe. The Race ecm was intended for the race kit, which opens up both intake and exhaust. I ran my with just the intake kit (k&n filter and a ring thingy) and it seemed okay, that was 20,000 miles ago, so I don't remember for sure |

I have a carbon fiber Wiley Co on my M2. It is very resonable for sound unless you have the throttle wide open. Also, make sure you get the updated model, this is very important!!! here is a link to my pictures of the new setup http://www.badweatherbikers.com/cgibin/discus/show.cgi?tpc=4062&post=259577#POST 259577 |

I would say the culprit is most likely the engine temp sensor or O2 sensor. I ran a race ECM with stock exhaust and stock intake and no problems at all. It did run better with a vance and hines muffler and different air filter. |

Bike is in open loop at WOT throttle so sensors would not be the problem?? Probably just need to get a freer flowing breather and exhaust. Frank (Message edited by ftd on April 27, 2005) |
