Heard about this one on the news. I'm sure that there are law enforcement officers on this board that will agree that they are most often called to a scene to act as social workers. That is, they arrive to help sort out other people's foolish quarrels. The problem is that it is usually the inbred, banjo picking, retards like this woman, that call the most. She is calling for an officer like I would call for a pizza! Most likely she is unmotivated or too ignorant to solve this problem by herself. Sorry for the O'Reillyian rant, but thats how I feel about it. | ||

If someone is damaging your property or accosting another person you call the police just like you call for Pizza. If she smacks her kids, CSD comes and takes them from her. Now, she probably has to get the kid into some "therapy" or something. I know some people worship cops here but to me they are no better than anyone else. Same as a garbage collector or a pizza delivery guy or the guy that separates baby chicks by gender by looking at their genitalia. This country is too politically correct. When I was a wee little kid, I was throwing a tantrum in a store and my mom whupped me and I went up to a cop and told on her and he said "Good!" Now he would have to toss her in the clink! | ||

I have to agree (to a point) with Rafaf. About the politially correctness of the country.. it is rediculous... but the Police only can do what they are madated to do... Their hands are more tied than you think. My first born is on the way. 5 months along... and you better belive that discipline will be there. I have seen 1st hand (teaching karate) what "Time out" can do for discipline.. NOTHING! it is scary what the state of the country is in.. but Do Not blame the police that work their butt off every day to protect you and me.. my 2 cents.. | ||

I dont hit my three year old, never have. I just hit him where it hurts. He acts up or doesnt listen, he gets a toy taken away. Believe me it works when he sees his power ranger supply dwindling and his thomas the train collection missing all the engines. sux to play with the cargo trains only | ||

I can see both sides of this story. I am ok to say now that I was abused as a kid. My dad beat the hell out of me for the slightest thing. My mom pretty much deafened me in one ear from hitting me, and you know what it didnt make a damn. Except for the fact that I rarely ever raised a hand to my son, who is now 19 and really never got into trouble at all. Beating them? Does it help? I say no it doesnt. Maybe a good spanking? Not sure I believe that people can do that anymore without losing it and really hurting the kid | ||

I agree... There is a fine FINE line between Discipline, and beating.. my dad spanked me as a kid.. most of the time.. I deserved it.. lol. I don't ever want to be accused of beating my child.. but i also don't want to be the one with "little billy" going NUTTS at a grocery store, or other public place... know what i mean.. ever seen that condom comercial with the kid throwing the tantrum in the store cause he couldnt get the cookies.. THAT IS JUST LIKE MY NEFEW (Sp wrong)... | ||

whether or not your physical with your child is not what keeps them in-line. a child has a mind just like an adult does and you have to be mentally effective with your punishments. whether its spanking/time-outs/or taking away toys. you have to do it responsibly. if the child disagrees with the punishment your message wont sink in. the best way to raise a good child is to lay the groundwork for a good teenage relationship early on. talk to your child. treat them with respect. recognize that they may want something other than what you want and that's ok. trying to push your ideals on them is a bad move. when you have dealings with your child think to yourself "how would i have reacted to this when i was a child?" and if you think the punishment would have worked on you, then try it. almost any form of punishment can work with the desired effect if used the right way. and any form of punishment can fail if not used properly. just my not so humble opinion based on my college major in psychology, man do i have stories. i make no apologies for spelling. i said psychology not english | ||
