Keep tech topics in the Knowledge Vault. I and other custodians will be moving any tech related topics posted here or in the XBoard to the KV, so if you are wondering where yours might have gone to, check the KV. Please help get BadWeB better organized. Put all tech/performance/troublshooting questions into the applicable topic in the KV. Please? Thanks, Blake |

Blake -- as a repeat offender, I apologize, and will do better in the future -- it's just that QB stuff seems to get a more timely response than KV stuff, sometimes . . .. Hi, my name is bomber, and I'm a thread abuser. |

I hear ya. We gotta try to change the trend. Tough thing to do. Gotta be a jerk sometimes, but with your help we are guaranteed success! Thanks for noticing. |

I am in the same boat. I have always posted my troubleshooting questions in the XBoard since that is what I have. It does get noticed more there since I think that is where a lot of people go. I will also start to post there. Basically, I am just adding this post to push this thread to the top. |

The KV is becoming the rarely plied depths of the BadWeb. Only the really hardcore Buellisti lurk there. |

I *always* do a thorough search of the KV. And then, should I have a tech question, I always post it in the appropriate KV section. And then, almost always, I don't get a response until I post it elsewhere! I agree... all tech stuff belongs there... and if not already, should be moved there. (Sorry custodians... it's a lot of work for you!) Others are far better suited to come up with a solution. Is it because the "new message search" feature isn't used much? I dunno. But hey... this is the premier site for Buell tech info... I know the answers are here somewhere, or are *available* from someone who will be logging on at some point in the very near future. So yes, I sometimes am an offender when I can't find an answer going through the proper channels. But I promise, I'll always search and then KV first as I've always been doing. The board has grown... and I surely appreciate the work involved in keeping it organized. A thought... is it possible for the originator of a post to quickly move it to the more appropriate section after a response is received? Thanks... Steve |

An idea for getting your questions noticed as well as getting them answered in the appropriate KV section: Post your question in detail in the appropriated KV section. Then right click the little icon above your user name in the left column by your posted question and "Copy Link" Go to a busier part of Badweb and post something to the extent of: "Thingamabob question here : (paste link) Please help" Helpful souls will then (hopefully) click the link and jump to where the full question is posted (i.e. the right spot in the KV) which will likely make people post their replies there as well. Just a thought. Henrik (Message edited by Henrik on April 29, 2005) |

I have a heck of a time searching the KV. For whatever reason (stupidity, lameness, or just plain too lazy) I stumble around the vaults like a drunk monkey humpping a football; seldom finding the info I'm looking for. So I post a question on one of the other boards and some smarty-pants posts a link to the proper KV subject. Rob |

Henrik... Great!!!! That would certainly do it and not tie up a lot of space. Thanks! I think I recall seeing that done before... but did I remember??? Duh! Great suggestion. Searching can be a job... sometimes several pages come up with references to your search query... some not really what you're looking for. But... if you're persistent... modify your searches... and take the time.... you'll generally find it if it's there! I've been coming here for years now. And here's an example... I vaguely remember from a couple of years ago, pictures of a homemade catch can that was made out of PVC pipe and fittings... didn't look too bad to my recollection, so I wanted to check it out. It took a while to search it the other day... but I found it... still there waitin' for me!! Steve (Message edited by Smadd on April 29, 2005) |
