I grew up in OKC and lived there for 28 years, and lived in Mustang and Yukon (just north of Mustang) for the last 6 years when my kids were little. Mustang is about 5 miles south of I-40, west of OKC about 20 minutes (Yukon is another 3 miles west, but pretty much right off I-40). Mustang is a little commuter town that has grown significantly since I lived there. It's OK for schools and inexpensive housing, not so good for shopping and/or social events. It would be a great city for little league, PTA, and church since it still has the small-town feel.
