ROAD RACING - Higbee Recovering By Paul Carruthers Hand Injury 3/7/2005 According to Harley-Davidson's manager of product, communication Paul James, road racer Shawn Higbee is recovering at Halifax Memorial Hospital in Daytona Beach, Florida, after crashing yesterday during Formula USA action at the Speedway. Higbee crashed in the dog-leg section of the track after colliding with another rider. The Bartels' Harley-Davidson/Buell and New Castle Harley-Davidson/Buell-backed Higbee ground off the top of his left pinky to the first knuckle and also ground down his left ring finger. Doctors performed surgery on Higbee last night to fuse the middle knuckle of the ring finger and to amputate the tip of the left pinky. The Wisconsinite suffered no other injuries and is expected to be released from hospital in a few days, according to James |

If I had Naughty as MY nurse or even Kandie for that matter, I doubt very seriously if I would be wanting to get out of the hospital quickly |

jesus. was he running bare fisted or what?! That seems incredible that you could have your fingers on the ground like that long enough to grind it down that much, I would think he would be rolling and stuff more...sucks! |

Burnmyheartdown, suggest you take a 4" minigrinder with a sanding disc, put on your best leather race gloves, squeeze the trigger, then mash that puppy down on your leatherclad finger. You will quickly see how long it takes to grind your finger to the bone. Believe me, it only takes a split second. Obviously you've never had an encounter with pavement at speed (that's a good thing). |
