Author Message   S3t Posted on Friday, December 24, 2004 - 06:41 am:        I'm looking at a 1997 system - I really only want the muffler. Does anyone know if the muffler mounting scheme for the 1997 would be the same as in 2002? This is for Thunderbolt. I know the brackets were beefed up between those MY's - but I'm not sure if the actual mounting locations/points were changed. Does anyone have any bad experiences with Spring retained mufflers (i.e.: Vance and Hines)?Thanks for amy feedback. Also the 99 and up front exhaust mount was different. Same location, but the old cans can not fully take advantage of the newer mounts. The old cans typically had a single hanger welded, or clamped on but the newer cans typically have a double hanger made to mate with the newer style mount.
