My front brake has good lever feel, nice and firm, fluid is good. I pulled the caliper and all the pistons move as they should. But the front brake is a brick - doesn't stop for shit. No noises...but the bike has been sitting in the shop for 3 or 4 years now and I think the pads are just...shot. Plenty of pad left (bike only has 10k on it), but they just don't have any bite left.

I'm looking at EBC. I had Lyndall Gold on my Uly years ago, until one day, two-up, the stopping power simply.....left. Not faded, not chattered, not gave me a warning, but one turn I had brakes, next turn...pucker. It was a fast ride and I was 2 up, but the no warning thing had me switch from Lyndalls immediately.

Anyhoo. EBC offers the HH, and the R90 organic series. Any thoughts for compound choice? They both talk about "fast street bikes", but aren't their dedicated race compounds, so I presume they don't have to be scalding hot to work...

Pads are cheap (and easy) enough. If they don't work I'll rebuild the MC and the caliper...but I'd think if either of those were bad, I'd have a soft lever, and the lever feels perfect.

I would not crack open the wet side
sounds good enough
I am surprised that the brake action degraded from sitting

I ran the EBC HH on my UlyXT, and liked them quite a bit. Never did a track day on the bike, and didn't ride it really hard for extended periods, so I can't say how they would perform under continuous harsh use, but for normal to spirited riding they worked great. I weighted in close to 300lbs not including a lot of gear, to give you some idea of what the pads were stopping.

This may not be a lot of help, but I put some old NOS EBC organics on an old Ducati. I was impressed with their bite for use on a street bike.....they were cheap on ebay too.

Well, pads did the trick. Dunno if the old ones were contaminated or just dry rotted, bubut the HH pads are working like a champ!
