Are there any differences between a '99 and an '02 M2 frame? Since I'm building from a bare frame I would like to use an '02 shop manual and parts book to get the most updated/revised info. Just want to make sure all the '02 stuff will work on a '99 frame. |

It'll be later this evening, but I can break the manuals out and check. Court |

1999 Model Year was the first year for the 'under the frame' header. 1313 |

Now that I have had the time to think about this topic over my Christmas break, the only difference that I can remember between the '99 M2 frames and the '02 M2 frames was the hole for the sidestand switch. The earlier frames used the crappy sidestand switch from the S1 and had a smaller (and threaded?) opening. If memory serves me, a kit existed to install the later (i.e. more durable) sidestand switch to the earlier M2 (and another kit for the X1) frames. I would not trust this information to be gospel without further research... 1313 |
