I don't like the position on the bike with the original seat.
yes it's sexy shape, but where there is the red arrow, the seat is too round, too convex , so this roundness is really troublesome/annoying. You feel like a "thing" just under your balls
In addition I dont like the postion, because when I ride the bike I feel more to be "ON" the bike rather than "IN" the bike. I feel to be something OVER the bike and not PART of the whole bike , especially during turns. I bought a spare original Solo Seat (It is a bit damaged in the bottom edge) I removed some foam to make it more FLAT (almost concave).
then the moke up
Then I put back the leather (not real leather) . I have not glued, I put only some staples (only 4 or 5) with a staple gun I stretched the leather to put the ruined part UNDER the seat.
Some adjustment later and I'm done. (need to fix it better with more staples).
Yes, not a big change, but even if i removed only 3/4" in the deepest point, I really feel better the bike during turns. In addition I'm not so tall, so now I'm able to have both feet on the ground. (Message edited by Conv90 on October 30, 2022) |

I need to do something similar to one of my S2 Corbins - they keep sliding me forward into the tank. I don't much have that problem on the S1W, but I to tend to sit all the way back on that one (6'4" with a 34" inseam) so the worst part for me is the edge of the tail section behind the seat. |

Looks great! I'd like to redo mine someday. Yours came out well. My S1 came with a corbin, and I was always sliding all over the place on that seat. It probably wasn't as bad new, but I think after 20 years the leather got tough and slick. I couldn't even leave a stop sign without it trying to slide me back in the seat. Even though corbin was by far the best looking option for an S1, I ended up just swapping it for a stock seat. Being comfortable makes a big difference. |

I have also a S1 Solo Seat , but it does not fit so good the manta tank. And me too I noticed that the S1 seat has a leather much more "slick" than the S1W one.

Is that manta tank longer than usual that it's causing it to lift up like that? or is it the hump under the seat? I've heard the older S1 seats(mine included) have a hump under the front of the seat that the later one's don't, which match up with the indent in my tank. Putting a seat with a hump on a tank without the intent would likely make it lift up like that. |

They seems the same (right the S1, and left the S1W) It seems only that the S1 one has the tip more steeper pointing UP more than the other.
And the concave Hump seems the same.

That's odd for sure. I wonder if you'd be able to heat the one up a bit and just bend the nose down to match the profile of the tank a little better. |
