I'm having trouble removing the headlamp (entire assembly , separate from housing) on my X1. The manual says all I need to do is loosen the screw at the bottom and "pry" the headlamp from the housing. I'm tugging on the silver part but having no success. Am I stupid? |

You’ve not given me enough information to make that determination. The chrome trim ring is sort of a tight fit. You may need to persuade it a bit. |

I can make the determination only because I dealt with that same stupid thing. I pulled out the screw on mine and it just wasn't budging. I looked in the manual to try and avoid breaking anything, and that was the only step was to remove that screw and pull the ring off. You just have to get a little rough with it and it'll come off, it's a tight fit. |

Yes, stick something wide and flat (dont laugh a butter knife) between the ring and the bucket and give a slight twist to pry them apart. I find the butter knife usually does something like that and will give before the parts that I'm trying to separate will give. Good luck! |

It usually "pops" out when the ring gets past the lip on the housing. Since you will be prying, it will let go and things will go flying. Its not going to sail across the room, but could jump out of your hands and hit the floor. Be ready. |

Hey guys, thanks for the advice. I cracked the thing loose and replaced the lamp. I found it easiest to start form the bottom with the butter knife to get the initial separation, then work my way around with a flathead screwdriver. I now have a new problem My right turn signals wont work! Think its a fluke or because of the replacement? my signals were working before, I just replaced the rear turn signals last week and they were working fine. I replaced with an OEM headlamp from St Paul HD, so no LED relay stuff going on. Left signals front and back work fine |

Fixed it. Rear turn signal wire pulled loose randomly. Be careful when reinstalling the trunk that you arent putting any strain on the rear RIGHT turn signal, as that wire has to cross the bike to left side where the bullet connector terminals are |
