Getting old sucks! Since the top end is getting done... I may as well run some new oil pump lines because I am inspecting the pump and will be checking the cams and installing a new timing sensor.

So here it is for all of you Hard Core Buellers! What is is the proper size crimp fitting for our oil lines? I am guessing a few of you know what it is and have bought the tool. I might be wrong because sure as hell am wrong sometimes but hey.... you will need to know this soon enough. Where is the best place to buy these oem jewels?

When I re-did my oil lines back 07 or 08,
I cut the cam chest, and ran stainless braided, with the correct AN fittings.

All the lines going from the bag to the pump, are low pressure anyway, feed, and return. Only one under pressure, the pump to the oil filter stand.
Even then, system is pretty low pressure.

I can check later and see if I have the information somewhere though if you like.

I actually do have all of that info about the braided/AN lines if you want it, with parts numbers, pictures and all of that in a nice write-up from S1OWNER when he was still around here. I think trimming that cam cover down and putting on new oil lines is one of the best things you can do to these bikes appearance wise.

If you want the information just send me a private message with your email, I have it saved as a PDF so I can't attach it here.

That is some great stuff. I used to do that. But for this job all I want is the OEM style rebuild and nothing more. Thanks for the info.

ill post up the writing on the clamps later if no one has this info.

S1owners write up was converting to an XB swingarm so only half relative in this case. Anyways, engine case oil feed just below oil filter and all fittings on the oil pump are tapped at 1/4" NPT and ran 5/16" line. The oil vent fitting on the cam cover is 1/8" NPT and ran 1/4" hose. He converted everything over from NPT to AN fittings which are -6 for the feed & return and -4 for the vent. -6 is 3/8" hose and -4 is 1/4" hose.

ah, that's a good point. I had forgotten about his xb swingarm. Part of his write up did mention that they make a matching decorative hose clamp, so you could always just run the new lines back to the existing fittings on the reservoir and clamp them on that way.

Honestly you could also get a pretty simple install with a nicer appearance if you covered the normal oil lines with a braided cover and clamped the ends like normal if you didn't feel comfortable making your own fittings, or it wasn't in the budget. If you haven't modified your cam cover all of the ends will be hidden anyway and no one is gonna be inspecting your bike that close. I feel like I've seen a couple of those around online somewhere.

Yeah they do make just the sleeves. At 20 years the oil seepage overall isn't really that bad but after pulling everything apart this seems like something everyone should be doing around 45k miles anyway. Looks like all of the oil in my tank has transferred to the crankcase. Once this top end is on My X1 will not get neglected. Front Rod Sideplay was only .010"} Everything else is right and tight down stairs.

The factory “crimp-style” clamps are Oetiker clamps., which require a special (but inexpensive) tool to properly install.
The larger oil line clamp for the 3/8” ID hose, is
Buell part number 62049-94YA or Q0115.0
Harley number is 10020.
The smaller clamp for the 1/4” hose is Buell number 62517-94Y or Q0123.0
The Harley number (I think) is 10014.

The Oetiker number on the 3/8 clamp is 157, the ID on the ones I have on hand is 5/8”.
The Fuel filter clamp (Buell # P0104.02A8) measures nearly the same, and has an Oetiker number of 153.

The Oetiker number on the 1/4 hose (vent line) is 138, and the ID measures slightly more than 17/32”.

The 3/8” drain hose at the removable plug end - uses a spring clamp which is re-usable, Buell part C0540.9
Which measures slightly smaller at 19/32”.

You can search “Oetiker clamp” and there are several tool & clamp kits that reasonably priced. Be sure to get the clamps that have the additional clamp ring that bridges the gap under the raised pinch feature.
Let me know if you need or would like photos.

You Rock Sir! I hope this info helps a lot of us in the future.

So far I picked up some of the clamps at St Paul Q0115.0 and Q0112.c 17mm before i saw y our post.
The rebuild is moving slow but I promise I will post back how this went for me and any useful info from it. Cheers!
