I finally crashed. It wasn't fun, but they say it's not if but when. made it almost 30 years! Lots of road rash, busted plastic, and some twisted metal. This was almost 2 months ago. Soon I'll be going through it and seeing what the damage is. if the frame is bent, I'll be parting out a 99 X1. If not, I'll be looking to do an XB front end swap. |

I'm relieved to see your focus is on the bike, that suggests you're recovering well, but two months off suggests it was bad. Get better and hopefully you'll be able to take something positive from the experience. ATGATT... |

Yes! Glad to see you are able to tell the tale and get back on the saddle. I haven’t been down since 2004-2005. Hopefully it’s my “one and done”. Where are you at in Houston? I used to live off Eldridge and Memorial. |

Thanks for the sentiments and support! Yes, it could have been worse, but certainly wasn't minor. The wife was hoping this was the end of my riding career, but I am keen to get back in the saddle. A coworker set up a GoFundMe in support; funny how the guys think I should and the gals think I shouldn't. I'm hopeful that I haven't lost my nerve or will be timid when I ride again. Used to live at Blalock and 10, now at 290 and 6. |

Sendin support from the sunny south. I was crashed by a cell phone driver in 010 at 55mph. I would have died if not for 40 years of skills, was on a dynaglide that got less damage than I and 10 years later have permanent nerve damage, missing bones and open surgery wounds.People in cars and bikes have died before and after my wreck at this intersection and the county/state do nothing.Gettin back on the horse that threw ya is everything.I live and breathe HD,so it was easy despite so many hospital staff wanting to take my left leg at the knee and telling me never ride again. They got the expected vehement reply.I have no family and 10 years ago there was no gofundme, now if I don't build/fix bikes and manage my disability check wisely,I'm homeless, most of it going to rent the house I am still in by the grace of God after the wreck and bein robosigned by bankofamerica in 4 months after 14 years of $1000 payments. So be it.If I can still kick start a shovel and switch shift to my old magneto sporty bobber and triumph chop, both built not bought bikes,I can send some "fight" to ya!Eat right,do your own research,no doctor knows you/your body like you do and it will pass, not living life on the edge is just takin up space.... |

I think my last was November 2002, hit a deer at 2:30am. Just had a buddy hit a deer over the weekend as well. As good of a rider as someone may be, doesn't stop deer from jumping out in front of you, and no reaction time is going to help you when it does. I got right back on a bike, but you better believe I take it easy after the sun goes down now. Glad you're doing well, hopefully the bike is ok too! |

the survivor stories are encouraging. It's a tough world! It's amazing some of the crap I did and survived when I was younger. In case anybody knows someone with money to burn... Kinda tells a little of my story. https://www.gofundme.com/f/2ts66-motorcycle-crash- recovery |

True. Very true. Like I said in the original post, that was set up for me. Since it's there, I'm just putting it out there. One hard thing is NOT thinking of what I did to get to where I am. All my life, my pains and pleasures have been my own doing. pointing a finger leaves 3 more pointed back at you. |

"pointing a finger leaves 3 more pointed back at you." That's why I always point at people with all 4 fingers and my thumb. They're getting all of them. |
