Can't seem to find a replacement for my worn out 2000 M2 Cyclone rear shock. Or is it standard to do a rebuild. Any info would be appreciated. | ||

Best bet would be an aftermarket by the likes of penske etc.....not cheap though | ||

Plenty of people have had them rebuilt, I think they say it usually costs around $200, and is in general a temporary fix until it craps out again. If you have the money, twin motorcycles makes a really nice replacement that you can get shipped for about $500-600. Not as nice or adjustable as the Penske shocks, but I've heard nothing but good things about them. At half the cost of the Penske, it'd be my pick, as far as putting a $600 shock on a $3000 bike goes.... I'm sure my wife would agree.  | ||

Replacing the stock shock is money well spent, whether you intend to keep the motor or not. The ride improvement will be noticeable and your riding enjoyment and the handling will improve. Eric seams to love the idea of the enclosed shock even though they are prone to leak and do not ride well. My RS1200 has one and has been rebuilt, even though there is less than 16K miles on it. Have been running Penske and Works shocks on my S3s. Penske are wonderful, but now way too expensive. The Twin Motorcycles shock looks great | ||

Another option (slightly more expensive than the Twin shock) would be one from AST Suspension. I had one on my old M2 that worked beautifully. I've sold the M2, but not before I removed that piece of kit. It's going on the S1 I am currently restoring. |
