My bike is completely stock. When I purchased it, there was a borla exhaust canister on it. I removed and put the stock on it. It seems like the popping and missing may be slightly worse since making the exhaust change, but I cannot tell if its related for sure or not. I did a TPS reset last summer and it didn't really seem to help. It misses and pops around 3000 RPMS consistently. Where should I start? | ||

That's right in the middle of the "learning" range. Perhaps it learned a bad thing from a sensor that is a liar? Do have the means to talk to the ECU? If so, the AFV may be way off. Resetting it would make it run better until it learns to run like crap again. Was it running like crap with the noisemaker pipe? | ||

hard to say it it was running like crap or not with the borla. i purchased it with the borla installed, I only put maybe 10-15 miles with the borla on it before I sold it and put the stocker on. I don't recall any popping or missing during those first 15 miles last summer. It seems to me it was running alot better initially after putting the stock on it. Now it just seems to be running worse recently. I currently do not have any buell tooth or whatever? I suppose I will have to investigate what is available and purchase something so that I can mess with AFV and TPS. the reason I haven't done this earlier is that I do not own any windows based devices. Everything in my house is apple iOS based. | ||

I read somewhere that if you ride at 3k rpms between 3rd and 4th gear under no load for 3 mins, the a/f will relearn. Dont quote me on the figures but theyre close. I dont recall where i read that. When conducting the demo rides at a location that had a significantly different altitude (East Troy ~700 ft/Sturgis 3200 ft) we would put a few miles on the bikes before the demos began to allow a new AFV to be learned. There was a phrase we used which I can't remember for sure, but I think it was "4th gear, 40 miles an hour, four minutes - under load (engine warm)". I had to do the same to an XB12R last week. I transported it during our move last fall (Milwaukee ~700ft to Custer 5500 ft). It took about 15 minutes of riding before it began to run decent. |
