i would contact the seller and ask him/her to make it right. Clearly there was an issue somewhere along the way. Did he use insurance? Did you pay using paypal friends and family? If so, you are kinda screwed unless the seller agrees to help out |

He will refund me but the thing is I'd rather have the pipe I was thinking about offering them $25 refund because I'll have to have an exhaust shop probably fix it with a Swedge machine |

Hate to say it, but it's an SS2R. It's gonna fall apart soon enough anyway...take the refund, find a better pipe. |

Lol like what? Nothing else around for anything less than $5-600 for a new muffler. I guess he wants it back now |

My "Daytona Boss" replacement muffler came dented like that but a local muffler shop was able to round it out for me in exchange for a six pack. Look for a non-chain shop that will do odd crap like this. They guy that did mine put it on a machine, pushed a button for five seconds and it was done. |

He said the same thing I was thinking. the front tube was thin... It was thin at the clamp were the metal did not rust. Where the rust was its like a 90yrs skin! So I'm definitely going to take him up on returning it. I found another not rusty ss2r. Should I pass on that too? |

keep it til it falls apart and look for something else in the meantime so you have a backup when it dies. you didn't give it back to the guy did you? id say f#$k him. |

Tell him you already fixed it but you want a partial refund for the hassle of fixing it. I think paypal has a dispute option where you can request a partial refund(if you paid for goods and services. If you paid friends/family there's not anything you can do). Only problem is when paypal reviews it, they can still rule in your favor but say to send it back for a full refund, even if you only wanted the partial. Either way, even without the damage, that midpipe is still looking pretty rough! I know people talk about how often they break. I have one on my bike and after 2 decades it's still holding in there fine. I know they're the cheapest of the tuber exhausts, but like you I'm not spending $500 on an exhaust on a bike that's only worth $3000. I'd say run it as is, if the mount cracks have an exhaust shop make a new one and just make a wrap around strap yourself in place of the welded on mount(or consider cutting off the current mount and make a new strap now to get rid of one current cracking point). Is that pipe also rusted where it goes into the exhaust can? The one thing I'd be worried about is if that midpipe is also rusted where it goes into the exhaust, that the inside of the exhaust would also be getting rusty, and would eventually start breaking from the inside out. |

i was going to say that. i knew a exhaust shop could flare it out with a swedge machine but knew i could probably fix it myself. i was checking the pipe out before replying his last email asking what "making it up to me" means. i was going to sat $30-50, i spent an hour fixing it. all our time is worth something. and yes the pipe is rusty. its clean under the clamp but not sure what it looks like inside the can. im assuming its just road grime. the actual can looks to be in pretty good shape. |

i have that 2.5" header that needs to be welded. also have that no-name pipe on the m2 engine. i turned the engine on its side and cant find any markings for it. maybe it was a vance and hines? the output is way too small. maybe i can just send it to someone to have a real pipe made with the good 2.5" head pipe |

You can drill the rivets out, inspect/repack and rivet back together. I have done it before with no problems. Good luck! |

ooh yeah, if you took the time to fix that thing, I'd be sure to put it back in the condition I received it in before I mailed it back. No reason to do that guy any favors. I bought a nice bicycle frame on ebay once, when it showed up it was wrapped in nothing but saran wrap. He braced the back end where the axle bolts in with a cardboard tube from packaging tape, not even with it turned sideways so it was stiff, he had it so the diameter of the roll was stretched between the chainstays. I knew as soon as I saw it that it was going to be trouble, so I took my time taking pictures of the entire unwrapping process. Once I got a look at it, and took a close look at the pictures on ebay, you could tell it was bent when he listed it, but he put a lot of effort into hiding that fact by using sun glares to hide creases and cracks. His plan was to sell the bent frame, packing it so poorly that he could claim it got damaged in shipping so he could get the refund from UPS. If you want to rip off UPS, that's your own deal, but the fact that he felt the need to involve me in the process was pretty irritating. I made sure to call UPS personally and explain the whole thing so he couldn't get it covered. Moral of the story is people can be garbage. Hopefully you find a new exhaust to use. |

haha...well wtf ya know? youre expected to take more of your time in packaging it up nice and neat because if it was packaged up nice and neat to begin with, we most likely wouldn't be going back and forth on a refund issue. youre prob gona do it for free too because hes refunding you the original amount? didnt you just say our time is worth something? hed be lucky if I even saran wrapped the slap a bow on it and send it out.hahaha I need a vacation! hahah is this guy from Omaha? |

Pack it up and send it back and remember when it comes to eBay "Caveat emptor". BTW, I agree with you Don, treat others as you would want to be treated. Think of it as a lesson learned, there are good sellers on eBay. I try not to harbor resentment when I am wronged, and I have found I sleep better because of it. Good luck! |

I purchased from him once. he had a part I needed that I couldn't find anywhere else. I knew of him through here and decided to chance it. I probably paid a little too much but it arrived packed up nice. I had no complaints. he does like to overcharge on items though. what's everyone's thoughts on buying a running bike just to part it out? I have mixed feelings about it. you lose one bike but maybe it keeps 10 more on the road. I don't approve of it but maybe theres something I'm not seeing. |

"you lose one bike but maybe it keeps 10 more on the road. I don't approve of it but maybe theres something I'm not seeing." Technically, if you save the first bike, and risk losing 10 others... as soon as the first bike of those 10 goes they could part that one to save the remaining 9, then you're only parting a lost bike instead of a good running one. I didn't realize that's who we were talking about, I should've guessed. What I find odd, is for as much as he tries to rip everyone off, I still always see him posting on the facebook buell forums trying to be chatty with people. |
