Just went for a ride on my bike(Crybaby) after replacing the battery, fuel pump, plugs, oil and filters. This is a new bike to me. Bike was running great and I love it but about an hour into my my ride when I hit the throttle she just bogged down. I also noted that speedometer quit working and the tripometer went back to zero. I pulled over and killed the bike. When I hit the starter button, after checking out the bike it just clicked repeatedly. Couldn't jump it and after I trailered it back home my volt meter said 11.17 volts. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

Loose battery post connections. Loose starter post connections. |

One of the battery connections was loose but I didn't check the starter. Thanks. |

The ground strap to the battery can corrode at the frame side. File everything shiny. Does your ECM show any cracks in the potting material? |

A loose battery connection can cause serious voltage spikes also and do significant damage if not addressed |

I think the battery crapped out. It said 11.17 volts but drew full amps on the charger and didn't change after on charge. FWIW I just bought the next to the last new Bankes shifter to be produced according to them. |

About a year ago we had them make more. I bought a shifter and brake pedal. They will make them if you pay them. |

It may not be a charging system issue. I had two batteries die weirdly on my X1. First was under the one year warranty: Just died on the highway like I turned the key. Measured 12.5V with no load but dropped to nothing under load and was unchargable. Second odd death: Started up nicely in the morning, cranking fast and healthy. Drove to work and then after work, almost the same symptoms as before. Wouldn't even flicker the headlight. AGM batteries die weird sometimes. I suggest replacing the battery and putting a meter on it. I'd wager the battery lost a cell or something. |

I have had not so good luck with batteries other than lithium. I buy shorai batteries every time my AGMs need replacement now. I’ve had good luck with the Duracell from batteries plus but for just $40 more you can get a shorai and be done with it. |

The AGMs from HD are junk now. It's not just us. Look on other HD forums. They used to be rock solid, but somewhere along the line they either switched manufacturers or something happened to quality control. I plan to go the Duracell route when the time comes. |
