Thanks. I have a ibeam up top with a roller but I haven't pulled anything from it in years and one side is supported by wood cross beams and my shop is old. Header makes a great spot to put the caliper  (Message edited by no_sprk on June 16, 2018) | ||

A bottle jack will fit up there and rest on the flat spot of the swingarm/mount in between muffler and shock for future reference | ||

thanks... i think i screwed up but i only rode about 20miles like this... i had the belt real loose but my fat ass sitting on the bike made it kinda tight. i stopped half way into my ride with new tires and had a feeling to check the belt (with me sitting on it) i had no ill effects but i was super paranoid so i took it easy home and adjusted it so it still had some freeplay with me sitting on the rear edge of the seat | ||

I lift mine like that all the time. That little scissor lift is one of the best things I've bought in a long time. Just be careful when you lift it from that front shock mount. The mount is on the right side of the bike, so if you have the rear of the bike on a paddock stand and it's not tied down, as you lift up the front mount you'll notice the right side of the swingarm lifting slightly. The only time I've lifted the rear that way is when I've had the front wheel in the chock so I haven't noticed the same issue. (Message edited by upthemaiden on June 18, 2018) | ||

yes i noticed that. i have a chock on my lift table. the stock harbor freight one is junk. i also have it strapped in front when removing rear tire. i put the axle back in and used jack stands to hold the rear while i lifted the front. | ||

You mean you replaced the built in one on the stand in the pictures, or the lift in the pictures belongs to someone else? Just a side note if that's yours(or someone you know), that version of the HF lift had some issues with it bending. It looks like that one's been used plenty and hasn't had any problems yet, so it might be fine, but I've seen a few pictures of where they go bad. That version of the stand had a flat vertical piece of steel where the lock bar rests on it. Sometimes the steel will bend there, and also cause the steel bar to bow(looks like it's not the original bar they came with). The other version of that stand had a 90 degree bend there and the bar actually rested on a flat horizontal portion so the base of the lift wouldn't bend. Easily fixed by welding some steel angle right there so it's a bit stronger, and of course making sure the steel rod you stick through there is up for the job. I circled the spot I'm referring to... If you're not entirely sure what I mean I can post better pictures. Don't want to get too far off track on this thread.  | ||

yes sorry i have two harbor freight lifts. one has a condor tire chock on it (for my 21" front shovel tire) both are older units. yes the newer ones really suck. i think they skimped on the materials when they started getting more popular. ive had these for almost 8years (i think, getting older) yes my load bar is not original. i also dont let the whole weight down on the load bar. its slightly dented but no bends. id really like to upgrade to a REAL bike lift but havent found a good deal on one yet. thank you for the help. my friends have had some bad luck with the newer ones. |
