Looking at the number of products they offer and considering one man is hammering out all these tanks, I would consider 18 months pretty quick turn around. This is definitely the end all cure for bubbling paint!! Judging by the feedback from the UKBEG guys, the wait is worth it. |

What kind of MONSTER would cover that up with paint?! |

Haha I'd be one of those monsters. The tanks are pretty but I've seen people post pictures of them on bikes and don't usually think they look good unpainted. Luckily I don't have the budget for $1000 gas tanks, so you can sleep easy knowing I won't be painting one. It could possibly work if you had your frame nickel coated, and polished everything possible on your bike. |

I would have to paint it too. If nothing else, to make sure the paint dont bubble I mean, isnt that why were going through all this? I think that if everything on your bike was either nickel coated, polished or chrome, it’d be too much of a good thing. Definitely be original though. Kinda like Satriani’s chromeboy Ibanez. I know you’ve seen that Maiden. |

Beautiful work, have been watching this site for a few years now. I keep hoping to see them start making them for FI bikes, because I would love to put one on my '99 S3. |

Considering they're metal, I bet it really wouldn't be hard for you to just screw on a block off plate at the petcock mount, have a welder attach whatever fitting the FI bikes need, and then attach everything like normal. Considering the wait list, I assume he's only hammering these out after people order them, and I'm sure at the very least could just leave the bottom of the tank bare with no petcock fittings. Then all you'd have to do is have someone weld on the fitting for the fuel pump. |

You can contact them about this and let them know what your preferences are. They can deliver it with the fuel cap or special thread for any fuel tap you want. They are busy people but always reply back to you. |

I actually did contact them a few years back and they were super nice. They said I would have to send my tank to them to look at. I don’t remember how long they said the wait was anymore, but I didn’t have a spare tank to send them. My tank still doesn’t have any bubbles in the paint, so there is no rush on my end. Definitely more of a want than a need for me, so I just let it go. (Message edited by Newmans3 on April 05, 2018) |

They aren't $1000. They are 1000 British pounds. Roughly $1500, and still worth it. Sexy! A level of skill very few know today. When the craftsmen (neutral gender) of this world are gone, we will all lament the good ol' days while standing in line at Walmart to buy the fourth or fifth same thing we already bought that broke or got 'updated' again. |

On another note The other metal tanks being offered on ebay out of india are appearing to be a cheaper option. Quality probably not as good but I have seen two builds done with them now and the same guys make vintage Indian tank replicas that are done pretty well! Search Buell aluminum gas tank on ebay |

These tanks are really nice and seem to be high quality. I got 2 last year along with 2 Buells. Here's the S1W. https://photos.app.goo.gl/OlSUpXsb3qNOkpks2 The Lightning tank had a bit of an accident. If someone is interested in it, I'll be able to get to it in a few weeks & put it up for sale along with some other items. The PO explained that a nephew was a bit reckless in the garage and smacked it with a bat. He put some air pressure into the tank trying to pop out the dent... with some unintended results. https://photos.app.goo.gl/XBLd5eoPmJPShVnJ2 DAve |

Dave Going off the pictures those appear to be the holtworx tanks the better more expensive tanks. You can tell by the bottom machined mounts. |

oh my! How much air pressure did it take to pop out the bottom of the tank like that?? I've also heard of people filling tanks with water and putting them in the freezer to pop out smaller dents, but obviously you'd need a big freezer. I assume if someone is crafty they could try to hammer the bottom back into shape, but it'd be hard to do without leaving a few bumps and dents on the top of the tank. Wonder if you could set it on the frame and use a handful of ratchet straps to slowly pull the tank down far enough to press the bottom back into shape. I'd give it a try, but I assume even that bubble of a holtworks tank is out of my gas tank budget. |
